its because assholes preorder dozens of these and then offer the items they don't even own yet for double/triple prices on amazon/ebay I remember the same shit happening with fallout4 pipboys , they were sold for outrageos prices on amazon, but later our local shop had to discount their collectors editions to 50 % of the original price because they couldn't get rid of it
