No, not for a "corrupt" government. Any form of government has corruption. The second amendment is there for if the government becomes tyrannical and totalitarian by ignoring the constitution. That is very different than corruption. The scary thing is that the constitution limits the government but only the government can enforce it. It is a sort of modern paradoxical situation. The gov violates the constitution all the time, they only get in trouble when the people or others in gov notice. Besides, the citizens would never win against the modern military. Sincerely~ A gun owner

Most militaries aren't. Soldiers are trained to follow orders. They are so brain washed I doubt it would take much to convince them that the "rebels" are terrorists and a threat to national security. Unless the entire population bands together, which is highly unlikely, the gov would just bomb the citizens. No military needed. That is what I mean. Back in the days we had a fighting chance when it was long rifles and muskets. Today we'd be fuсked, it would just be drone strikes.

  • I find it hard to believe that our people in the military would take orders to kill civilians who are standing up for the rights endowed to them by our constitution. But I see where you are going with the whole "only the government can punish the government" thing.

  • During WWII japanese Americans were put into internment camps, clearly a violation of their constitutional rights. All it takes is a very small percentage of military personnel, as with the nаzis, and you have genocide.

  • Temporarily detaining possible enemy spies and bombing the civilian population are two very different things

Temporarily detained? American citizens, no trial, no due process, no rights. That's exactly what Hitler said about the Jews. We are "temporarily detaining" them. As I already stated, it takes very few people to kill millions. Not even 10% of the Nаzis knew it was happening. Killing civilians it happens all the time in totalitarian regimes. They aren't saying "bomb civilians". They are "rebels and terrorists" who pose a threat to national security. If you don't think a military and public can be manipulated, you need to study history more. The point I am trying to say is we don't really have rights. They aren't real, they are something we made up. They are privileges granted to us by the constitution, and they can easily be taken away, like in WWII for example. It is very dangerous to just assume "my gov and military would never do that". Very, very dangerous and naive of history. -sorry about all the edits, went a bit hard last night at the bar ha

  • I suppose tyrannical wouldve been better phrasing. And I agree that the modern military would most like decimate a rebellion, however, much like the United States does, other countries would most likely aid in the efforts to overthrow a tyrannical government, while also making a profit. However, a modern rebellion would most likely lead to an all out world war.
Perhaps, but remember that the US has the biggest supply of nukes. I am doubtful many nations would eager to interfere.
However, a modern rebellion would most likely lead to an all out world war.
Agreed. People keep saying the military would never bomb civilians. Well we already do in other countries and they would be considered terrorists for rebelling.
