Nah. Golfers have been throwing it around for years. If you want to see what "penal golf" looks like taken to its irrational conclusion....just tune in to the US Open next June. The USGA thinks the way "identify the best golfers" is to dry out the fairways and greens until they're hard as asphalt and even skilled golfers can't control their ball....Narrow the fairways to 20 yds across...and grow the rough halfway up your leg. Its the most BORING golf in the world to watch: Hit your ball to the safest part of the fairway. Hit your ball to the safest part of the green. Two putt for par and move on. Be grateful for the occasional birdie when the hole gets in the way of your approach putt. The irony of course is the more extreme they make the conditions, the less the tournament becomes a test of skill....and the more it becomes decided by luck. Who gets the lucky bounce? Who gets the unbelievably good lie after driving his ball into the rough....or missing his shot to the green?
