Autorifles do more non-critical damage but less critical damage. This makes them the most efficient weapon for beginning players who can't score all headshots. They are perfect the way they are.

What are you talking about? Pulse rifles are the best starting weapons for new players. More damage, more range, more stability, easy to use in close and long range engagements, and much more forgiving for missing a burst. Just because it's a full auto weapon does not automatically make it the best choice for new players. You need to look at the stats and in game performance for that weapon in that specific game. And right now, auto rifles underperform and take a more experienced hand to use effectively over pulse rifles.

But has significantly less range, much less stability and more recoil, less damage per headshot, and smaller magazine sizes. Your also ignoring the fact that the lowest impact auto rifles does 13 damage for a body shot in optimal range. The Clever Dragon can maintain its body shot damage of 16 at any range. Which is funny because the bullet hose auto rifles can't even deal 16 damage for a headshot. Pulse rifles are the noob friendly weapon.

I think that AR's are better because they're more forgiving in non-precision mode. If a pulse rifle does 30 precision damage, it will do 20 with a body hit. An autorifle will do 24. That's why autorifles have the fastest non-precision Time to Kill.

When in optimal range they have the fastest non precision TTK perhaps. But you have to remember that that range is shared by another more powerful weapon type called shotguns. Even when landing all critical shots in optimal range with an auto rifle a shotgun warrior will still kill you before you even have a chance to do anything to him/her. Even in optimal range they still lose to every other primary weapon type. Their range is terrible. They have the slowest overall TTK in game. Horrible mag sizes for the slow RoF archetype. They aren't forgiving to use in the slightest. Pulse rifles are the noob friendly weapon in Destiny. Long ranges that allow for competition with scout rifles. Amazing stability and low recoil that resets immediately after each burst. High damage and fast RoF for them. Combined all that with the aim assist on Destiny's weapons allows them to be effective and competitive at all ranges for players of any gun skill level. That's 1 things for auto rifles and 3 for pulse rifles. Pulse rifles are easier to use and to aim. They are competitive at all ranges and are incredibly easy to hit shots with.

You underestimate autorifles' range. My Titan relies on a fusion rifle in the Crucible, and I can tell you: 1. He outranges shotguns. I've lost count of all the shottie-chargers he's obliterated before they could get close enough. 2. Autorifles outrange him. Too many times, I've died because I either knew I was too far away to shoot, or I tried a shot and only scored with 2-3 bolts.

I never said auto rifles can't kill at range. But their range drops off immediately outside of shotgun range. So statistically an auto rifle will lose every single gunfight outside of shotgun range. Inside of it they still lose to pulse rifles like the Clever Dragon. It doesn't matter how you preform with them. The statistics speak the truth of a weapon's performance better than any player. And pulse rifles beat auto rifles in everything except non critical damage inside of auto rifle range. Auto rifles from Vanilla were the noob friendly weapon but not anymore. They haven't some update 1.1.1. It's been pulse rifles since then.

What autos have you played with? Precision functions like any other gun, but auto rifles are admittedly more "forgiving" for not landing headshots. But if you're like me, and you land 4-7 of the 8 headshots a guardian needs to kill someone, you're "rewarded" by a .05-.08s reduction in ttk. It's strange to promote spraying and praying with autos' narrow gap between body and precision damage, when headshots make weapons of all other archetypes deadly.

That's the problem. Some players are clumsy or inexperienced, and they're not "like you". They need the equalization provided by autorifles to have even a fighting chance in PvP. Now I know that elite players don't want noobs to have a fighting chance: they want cupcakes to slaughter with impunity, not opponents who might kill them with a little luck. That's why the elites want autorifles to function like pulses and scouts: high precision damage, low body damage. But that's shortsighted: if you don't give the noobs a fighting chance, they'll give up PvP very quickly. The elites have their pulses and scouts, their Clever Dragons and MIDA's, which reward a skilled hand and punish an unskilled one. Now, they want all the guns to do that exact same thing. Bungie, bless them, is wiser than that. And I really hope they stay that way.
