I'm wholly unaffected by his passing.
I don't know a whole lot about Cuba, but I think we'd largely consider it a failure considering its poverty and such. I wonder how much of that failure is due to being cut off from the US, even though it's only 90 miles from us.

Is being cut off from trading with a neighbor really enough to turn your nation into a third-world joke of a country? I see no evidence to support this. The simple fact is that Cuba had little economic freedom, which is the primary engine for prosperity.

I'm not saying it was the leading cause. Just if it was a contributing factor.
