In year one of destiny one of the final bosses is named Sol Progeny and the super is named hammer of sol. Also the place where you obtain the power of the sunbreakers on mercury was onced flooded with vex. I'm just speculating but I really think they've harnessed power from the vex and utilized it as a weapon.
In year one of destiny one of the final bosses is named Sol Progeny and the super is named hammer of sol.
Sol is Latin for sun. Progeny comes from Latin and means the descendents of. With this, I assume the "Sol Progeny" symbolizes their work with the Vault of Glass and the Black Heart is the "offspring" of Sol's [Solar System] past, present, and future. In layman terms, the Sol Progeny, the Black Heart, and the Vault of Glass were tied with the fate of the Solar system, but we stopped them.
Hammer of Sol just simply means hammer of the Sun.
Also the place where you obtain the power of the sunbreakers on mercury was onced flooded with vex.
What better place to establish a solar farm than on Mercury?
Now, I'm not entirely sure what the Vex had to do with Mercury.
I'm just speculating but I really think they've harnessed power from the vex and utilized it as a weapon.
If you think deeply, I could possibly see the connection, but in my opinion is highly unlikely.
The Vex slap rifle is able to bring matter across space and time and use such matter for construction. Why is this symbolized with Solar, I don't know. Void would have been the better option in my opinion.
A Hammer can be used like a weapon for destruction, but can also be wielded like a tool for construction. Similar principle to the slap rifle [that's the only similarity I see]. A slap rifle brings matter through space and time, but a Sunbreaker forges new hammers with the Solar Light in him/her/it.
It's just the art of solar light. The Sol progeny were made to bring forth the power of the vault of glass and worship the black heart. They have no association with the sunbreakers.
