In layman terms, the Sol Progeny, the Black Heart, and the Vault of Glass were tied with the fate of the Solar system, but we stopped them. Hammer of Sol just simply means hammer of the Sun. The Vex slap rifle is able to bring matter across space and time and use such matter for construction. Why is this symbolized with Solar, I don't know. Void would have been the better option in my opinion. A Hammer can be used like a weapon for destruction, but can also be wielded like a tool for construction. Similar principle to the slap rifle [that's the only similarity I see]. A slap rifle brings matter through space and time, but a Sunbreaker forges new hammers with the Solar Light in him/her/it.
