It's WAY easier to transmit all five to a clean character. Once you have any of them, it's much more difficult to "catch" the rest. Since it seems to transmit easiest by orbs and super kills, having a person in a group that is already infected increases the chance of someone else getting infected by only one or two instead of all five.
