Nobody seems to mention the fact that you travel a long distance in your first Ship from the cosmodrome to the City. We know where the cosmodrome is in relation to Russia's geographics, all you need to do is find out which direction North/East/South/West the ship goes and predict a likely spot based on the Cities surrounding formations.

If the direction of the Director is to be believed then the City is east of the cosmodrome. I've got a composite that could show which part of Kazakh the Cosmodrome we visit could be (it's nowhere near proof of anything) https://i.imgur.com/f0kdqFW.jpg The city seems to sit on a coast itself, whether that's a lake or a sea is difficult to tell. The nearest lake to the real Cosmodrome is 1000 km. Problem is that the environment for the Destiny Cosmodrome doesn't match the Kazakh Cosmodrome.
