Bungie: don't nameshame
Someone: what if they are cheaters
Bungie: don't name shame, it's mean and bad and you shouldn't do it
Someone: why? What if we have proof they are cheaters?
Bungie: don't post it, that's nameshaming.
Someone: what if I do post it?
Bungie: We'll defend the cheaters because we are morons with no sense of justice and you'll get in trouble, not them.

But the thing is Bungie is not absolutely sure right now. This guy probably submitted a form right around when he made this post and they might not have gotten around to it. They actually can't use the word of another player or even video evidence to ban a cheater because it is incredibly easy to doctor these things

Getting your anonymous gamer tag posted on a forum that is frequented by only a percentage of a player base in the hundreds of thousands because you're blatantly cheating? Yeah, I think that person will survive the abuse, if not deserve it. It will in no way affect that persons experience in the game. I wouldn't care if Bungie censored it, as long as the censor message was "We have removed the name of the alleged cheater and launched an investigation into the player's recent activity. You will be receiving a report of actions taken within one week. Thank you for alerting us." Instead it's "hey now, you should be ashamed for making the game less enjoyable for everyone by spreading your trash talk. If there's a problem, use the in-game report tools or the bungie.net report system that doesn't yield any results or feedback you little bitch-ass snitch hoe."

由RealHarryTruman编辑: 6/26/2016 10:47:05 AMInternet shaming is real and powerful. Look it up. It has ruined people's lives. In some cases some of the company's involved (possibly Bungie)were sued. Bungie doesn't want negative attention like that. I'm not saying this guy calling out a few hackers will ruin their lives. But you never know. Again, Bungie can't take any risks. If you name shame, it doesn't matter how unfair the trials game was. Three main reasons A. Bungie cannot take the risk of possibly being sued or receiving negative attention. B. Bungie wants to protect their player base from hate and any mess that may follow Internet shaming. C. What's more important? A persons life potentially ruined by hate and slander. Or you having the satisfaction of calling out cheaters in a fake game. - TL:DR
internet shaming is bad for Bungie because there is a possibility that they could receive negative attention if the shaming becomes widespread
Link: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/02/15/magazine/how-one-stupid-tweet-ruined-justine-saccos-life.html

It doesn't matter if the person is guilty or not. Read the article. That lady made a racist joke people make all the time in the safety of their home. She was just stupid enough to tweet it. After all, it's just a game. Yes the cheater should be banned, but you don't have tell the whole world that he does cheat. You use bungies reporting system and forget about it. Put yourself in the cheater in questions shoes. What if he saw this post? What if he feels awful because there are a hundred people calling for his ban? How would you feel if you saw a post about you cheating had 100+ replies and most of them were comments like " what a douchebag". I bet you wouldn't feel to great after that.

That's the point... its supposed to make him feel bad. If they are going to get hurt by random people over the internet being mean to him he should have thought of the consequences to his action. Above that they're not using his real name and don't know anything about him so how is he threatened in anyway? Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating for name shaming but I'm just trying to say peoples mode of thought

由Sjur Eido编辑: 6/26/2016 11:15:14 AMYou seem to act as if I would care what people would think, as if I were I cheater I would know I was guilty. However, I don't cheat, and I don't care much for the opinions of others. However. I can see what you are saying, and I acknowledge it completely. I've had an experience myself where I got in trouble and the cheater got off Scott free, so I was salty when I made this post.

You need to understand that shaming doesn't protect real cheaters. It protects someone accused. Best to report and let them do the work. Just think if every pissed off person went around doing this and named you when you did nothing wrong. Im sure this person will receive justice but understand the back lash of a free for all shame.
