I guess the younger generations have zero clue who H.P. Lovecraft is/was.
For all your "worm god" knowledge needs -- > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu_Mythos_deities
What I think the darkness COULD be --> Haiogh-Yai: Also known as "The Outsider" - a monstrous, amorphous, whirling entity living within a wandering black hole called Vix’ni-Aldru, which also hosts a city made of titanic blocks, inhabited by mysterious creatures resembling either worms or lizards.

由JoyfulOwl编辑: 6/9/2016 9:16:41 AMDo you have any recommendations for books to read or stories from Lovecraft? I have the Necromonicon, both Call of Cthulhu's, Mountains of Madness, and one other I think, but none of those ever reference any of those deities, with the exception of Cthulhu and one other, but I forget the name. Edit: The books I have are actually The Book of Cthulhu II, Call of Cthulhu and Other Stories, Necronomicon, and At the Mountains of Madness. All on Audible.
They could of gotten sued for using the name Golgoroth.
First, Golgoroth would not still be copyrighted or trademarked. Second, it couldn't have been at the start. Third, I'm fairly certain this dude didn't create Gorgoroth. I knew the name but haven't heard of this guy.

由Ghost593835编辑: 6/9/2016 5:21:29 AMFirst off golgoth is a god in the world of love craft. He came up with all the names for his universe. Second off I was proving a point, they can use name from love craft and not get sued. Third off, since YOU don't know him, doing means everyone doesn't know him. Fourthly bungie didn't make the word name Golgoroth. Which is only related to love craft until destiny Used It.

And maybe the guy did create Golgoroth, but that wouldn't explain how I know his character and not him. Most of these writers (even Tolkien) borrowed, much like Square does for FF and Bungie has here.

He could sue. He wouldn't win. Single words weren't copyrightable back then and names now require a LOT of fame (Batman, Wolverine, Luke Skywalker) and a lot of similarity in appearance, style, etc. trademarks require fame and can dissipate without it, or with genericism. Golgoroth simply is not a protectable term or character.
We don't know if he would. The court doesn't automatically say. Bungie wins. Of course not a lot of people would know of golgoth. Not a lot of people read love craft books.
I'm an IP litigator. He wouldn't win. The court would say because this is a pure matter of law.
Wait, you mean the legal system allows you to take others ideas if you change it a bit? Mind blown.
Yes and no. The regime (patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, etc.) dictates how much you have to change.
