"The music, it is focused more over there."
*She motions to the center of the room, where the majority of the 'guests' are.*
"As for why I am here... You are a warrior of great skill, that much I can tell. You can obviously ignore the effects of whatever they are using as well, so that tells me you are somewhat more reliable than the rest."
*She stops spinning the knife and tosses it over her shoulder onto a nearby table, a wistful expression on her face.*
"I'm sure even the gems on the silverware are spelled."
*She looks at you for the first time, sizing you up with an odd look.*
"Unless you want me calling you David, I would like the honor of knowing your name."

*She takes his hand, his larger one enveloping hers, yet she has a firm, controlled grip, odd for a human.* "Buffy Summers-Carter, leader of SG-12, USAF. You seemed like a David kind of person, alien, thing." *She releases his hand and walks over to stand next to him, facing the rest of the room* "Shipmaster, huh? Care to elaborate?"

"I am equivalent to what you call a captain. I command a warship, a battlecruiser." He looked at the smaller figure besides him. This one was different yet he did not know why, he'd have to keep an eye on her to be sure.

"I was scheduled for transit through our Chappa'i, or Star Gate as it is known in this language, on a recon mission. Standard stuff, go take a look around the area, look for ruins, make friends of any locals. Instead, the thing turns itself on and sucks me in. Only me." *She sighs, shaking her head* "Now if only Willow was here to do her thing..."

[spoiler]This is a character from one of my favorite Stargate/BtVS crossovers. Of course I'm modifying a bit... But yea.[/spoiler] "The normal system works by connecting two 'gates and forming a bridge of sorts between them. It takes a crazy amount of power to do it though. Normally it is supplied by the dialing side, but we don't have a 'gate here. I checked. So I am stuck here until they try dialing or we get a portal whipped up." *She grins up at the Shipmaster* "Don't suppose you happen to have any mystical items that could possibly crack a planet in half, do ya?"

"That would be wasteful, when we wish to destroy a planet we simply glass it. Superheated plasma scars the surface. Though we have not done that in a time of war for quite some time, it is also the best way to contain the parasite." He sighs, examining his new acquaintance. "The way they talk there is a coming battle, I gather that you are proficient with weaponry, what sort?"

"What do ya have? I have a feeling whatever is coming is not going to be stopped by normal projectile weapons. If you happen to have any close quarters weapons I would love to have a look at them." *She then looks up at you strangely* "So, superheated plasma, you say? Care to elaborate on that at a later time?"

"I have a number of weapons, among them a sword made of hard light and a plasma rifle." These could be seen attached to various hard points of his armor. He was unsure of her line of questions or her look. " I could explain now if you wish."

"No no, was just wondering about the physics involved. Seems a bit energy expensive, but could be useful back home..." *She shrugs again, a dangerous light in her eyes shining as she focuses on the weapons* "So, a hard-light sword and a plasma rifle. Is there a limit to the sword?"

"There used to be, when the Sangheili were servants to the false prophets, slaves to the covenant, they used to have a limited number of uses. Our efforts to improve them were rewarded, our swords no longer exhaust their energy supply." The shipmaster regarded this woman, she was definitely beautiful, yet she had a certain edge to her, a warrior. At the same time she was very interested in his people's weapons, the arbiter had instructed his subordinates to aid humans, so he obliged.

"Last time it was Anubitch, sorry, Anubis. Nasty little guy. Tried to destroy the planet of course." *She shrugs* "I un-ascended him right before separating his head from the rest of him. Of course we had to deal with the rest of his fleet afterwards, but we had friends to help with that."
