I have no idea and or answer really.
But have you tried passing the gaze around 6 times?
If it didn't work you could conclude you need really 6 different gaze holders.

Propably worth a try next time. At least you will know for sure then. If you fail you know it needs 6 different players. If it works it needs to be passed around 6 times (no matter how many players) Let me know how it goes, I'm curious :)
