I do not understand why people have a problem with multiple paths to raise one's light level.
Just to point out, in order to get those rewards, one must reach level 5 on at least one char. That takes a couple/few days ( some if they play all day can in one, but thats not realistic for most ), and you get one...ONE...item that level.
The hm raid gives one multiple items above level 310 in far less time. Both are random, both must have time committed to them. Its actually harder to get ib rewards and more time consuming than the other game modes that reward high level gear.
I just dont get why thats a problem. It makes it more fun for everyone and more people have higher levels to, in turn, enjoy more of the higher level content.
Is it simply that some just dont want others to achieve what they have achieved. Seriously, i just dont understand the problem with multiple paths to higher light.

I have nothing to prove lol You can fire up IB, change to TV or read a book or rub one out, whatever. Just move the controller now and again to stop it timing out. You will get drops and you will win SOME games to increase IB rep. Winning or losing games has no impact on drops and you only have to win 1 in 5 games to have effectively lost no games. Im not advocating such a strategy, im just pointing out that IB doesnt require anywhere nearly as much thought/ concentration/skill/co-ordination as other end game activities like raid and ToO.

You have no idea of what you are saying, first the raid doesn't guarantee shit, in fact it gives more shards that anything, which are useless until you get to Oryx, and even so most times he doesn't drop the extra reward. And IB dropped 310 items as completion rewards since lvl 2, you didn't even have to win the match, or kill anyone and you had a chance at those. And lvl 3 packages could drop 320 items. And really "IB takes more time", yeah that's bullshit, on Sunday with the buff you could have been lvl 3 in a matter of hours, and that's without the bounties. One thing is not wanting multiple ways to level up, this isn't that, it's clearly only having one way to level up, that isn't even the hardest piece of content, and you can even do it solo.
at least one person in the raid?
Im not concerned about everyone else. It can take a couple hours (if your team is no bueno) and, if you are lucky, you might get one piece of gear higher than something you currently have. After that, you have to wait an entire week to get a shot at being shafted by rng. IB has always been the place for low-level scrubs to get gear when they cant do the raid. Issue is, IB requires zero effort. You could be afk all week and hit lvl 5. You piss a lot of people off, but bungle does not care. Stupid to give out 320 gear for simply flying in.

It doesn't require zero effort though you have to win to get the good stuff to get to rank 5 because the random drops I think cap at 310 (I haven't seen one higher feel free to correct me) whereas the package which you can only get one per character drops the better stuff which again is once a month opposed to weekly.
