I had my Xbox One plugged into a surge strip for the first 5 months that I had it and during a storm it tripped both of them, but the internal one wouldn't reset so it stopped working. The Tech Rep recommended me to plug it directly into the wall and its worked flawlessly ever sense.
Its also recommended to plug it into the wall directly so it receives the necessary amount of power. Plugging it into a surge strip can have power drops and I've had experience with this too. Before I plugged it into the wall directly it would also have problems with the Cache and not properly turning off or going into sleep mode.

It could. It did for me. What would happen for mine is that when the xbox turned off the network adapter would lose power early so when it turned on next time it wouldn't work properly so I couldn't connect to the internet. I have mine set into the "Off means Off mode" and plugged directly into a wall and have had less issues like that for the past year and a half than when I had it plugged into a surge strip for 5 months.

由Zanithos编辑: 11/7/2015 3:04:02 AMAh, alright. So basically it needs to be plugged into the wall to function properly. Weird. That being said, how resistant is the PSU to surges and such? I live in Louisiana, and we've had almost constant thunderstorms for two weeks now, so I'm a little worried about plugging these sort of things straight into the wall lol. :P

由Ops R4ng3r编辑: 11/7/2015 3:07:28 AMI live in Minnesota. We had some nasty storms up here this summer. Had my 50 dollar strip trip a few times while my xbox was plugged into the wall and nothing bad happens for me. I totally get your concern lol. If you do plug it into the wall and know theres going to be a storm over night just unplug it lol. So far it's worked well for me. I'd go on Microsoft.com and ask them what they think. They'd know more.

Already checked Microsoft's site and they just kept redirecting me to the instructions on how to plug your console in, hence why I was asking here. Just you alone have been 500% more helpful than Microsoft has lol. So yeah, thanks for the advice! I'll ask around a bit when I pick it up in the store, but I have a free wall plug above where my power strip is plugged in, so I'll try and use it, and just unplug the console in the event of a severe storm. Hopefully nothing ridiculous will happen. :/

What I mean is there's a "Chat with a Mentor" option on their support page where you can ask questions and actually talk to someone. http://support.xbox.com/en-US/ its in the bottom right. But yeah, if you get it at a Microsoft Store then they should be pretty knowledgeable. Also yeah unplugging in severe storms is smart even with a Surge Protector lol.

Yeah, to be fair even if it was plugged into the surge protector I'd probably just unplug the thing if there was a bad storm lol. Honestly I had no idea about that mentor thing, I may have to try it. It'd be cool to actually get answers instead of posting something and waiting five months like I had to do years ago lol.

The Mentors are like Mentors on here, they're knowledgeable volunteers not employees of the company. They have good info though. Either way I'm sure you'll enjoy your Xbox. I love mine lol. Besides my Car and PC it's my baby.
