I don't even want to think how much money I have spent on magic. Although I still have a artifact deck that is nigh unstoppable and would cost close to 800 if I ever wanted to sell it.
I have only played MTG like twice although I really think I'd enjoy it. I feel like MTG is the adult version and Yu Gi Oh is the kid version. I think for most people Yu Gi Oh is more of a nostalgic thing than something they take super serious, like MTG.
Yea I agree. I've played both and I've found Yu-Gi-Oh is pretty easy to pick up on. MTG, you really need to dedicate some time to learning, there's all kinds of rules and technicalities due to very specific card texts, and an infinite amount of possibilities for card/theme combination when building decks.
I think that's something that has kept me away from it, there really is so much to learn with MTG. For a quick game YuGiOh is great and I think if anyone was interested in learning to play a card game like this, it's a great way to get started. Kinda like training wheels.
Somewhat off topic but growing up I played a lot of Final Fantasy so as I grew up I understood elemental damage and things like that. I played South Park, The Stick of Truth (I think) and things were, obviously, simplified. I said if it had not been South Park it would be a great way for kids to learn how to play turn-base attack games and understand elemental effects lol. Same way with Yu Gi Oh.
Growing up I had one friend who got into it with me when we were about 10-11 years old. We are both in our mid 20s now and still play every chance we get.
He was actually my first roommate after moving out of my parents house. Lots of halo and magic were played. Great times. Lol
I was a huge yugioh fan and player...until my deck was stolen. But I agree MTG is still the GOAT. Even to this day I play it, but only on Xbox as i don't have anyone to play with in reality.
