The subclass emblems are from the crucible class specific quests not the vanguard ones look on my warlock I have the void walker one
Ps you have to do them in order...for ghe warlock it's void walker then sunsinger then stormcaller

The second warlock one is song of the sun all of the subclasses quests for the blessings are crucible only quests. Step 1 is always 15 melee kills with the subclasses special Melee Step 2 has to do with gernade Step 3 has to do with the super Example the void walker quest line was 1 get 15 kills with energy drain 2 get 20 kill with void gernade 3 get 30 multi kills with nova bomb

Pretty sure you have to complete the quest for the new subclass on that character and complete the corresponding vanguard quest for each subclass you will get them from your vanguard adviser or they may be in the abboned quests kiosk
