Anyone having an issue with this, be sure to check that your sword is fully upgraded. There is an additional upgrade node revealed when you infuse it. That node must be upgraded to activate the Sword Reforged quest. Some of the guides do not mention this.

Dunno if it applies, but I recently discovered - and resolved - a bug myself. If you transfer a completely uninfused, unupgraded sword from the character you get it on to another character in the middle of an exotic sword quest already and upgrade/infuse it on THAT character, it will wait for you to complete the current phase of THAT exotic sword quest and then give you the Essential Elements phase of the new sword's quest. That's right, as far as I'm aware, it skips all prior requirements for the exotic sword questline before the phase of the existing quest you already had, for the new one. No crucible kills for my void edge! It was honestly an accident.

I'm having the same issues. I got the "Honing the Edge" step started on my Warlock and Hunter. So I know how to obtain the Exotic quest steps. Except when I started it on my Titan, I had already infused to 291 light. I was just one bubble away from full upgrade and knew I had some bounties to turn in on my Hunter. So I transfer my Sol Edge legendary to my Hunter, turn in bounties, finish the last upgrade, and transfer back to my Titan. No Exotic quest step for Titan. I check my Hunter to make sure I'm not missing the quest step and check abandoned missions. Nothing. Did I bug the quest? Is there a way to obtain the quest again? Please help, Bungie! The solar exotic sword happened to be the one I wanted to focus on and now it seems glitched! I have over 1500 hours into this game and have never been this frustrated!
