Definitely press charges. The best thing you can do for him i getting him arrested, seriously no joke. He's only going to get worse, and he's less likely to get himself killed in jail. Plus maybe he will find himself in there and come out a better person. I've been on his side of your situation, I hate to admit. Trust me, it's the right thing to do for him.
