Interesting! I think that it might be that its the key to something that will allow us to truly strike at the darkness. Maybe inside the traveler? Or weapons and abilities? It might become a stepping point to another system.. Got to take the fight to the darkness? Or it might be part of how we loose earth... Hrm!
