an overlooked aspect to reduction of ammunition is if you have luck in the chamber and final round on a reforged weapon your stacking percentage and probability of boosted damage significantly increases. if, in tandem, you wear gauntlets that increase reload speed, as a sunsinger hunter with chain perk, this becomes more a bonus than a detriment. my revelator has 8 rounds with FR and LITC...if they want to make it 6/7 rounds I'm all for it.

It's funny you mention that because that's the one upside I was looking at... PVP only though IMO. My Timur's Lash has luck in the chamber and if I equip the stability perk it drops the mag even further below the standard 7 rounds.

yeah it's certainly a PvP bonus. PvE I only use elemental weapons anyway, of which, fatebringer, jewels, word of crota, will slightly suffer; however, it can be combatted by giving attention to reload speed. fatebringer with gauntlets and triple stack chain perk on sunsinger is the quickest -blam!-ing reload the world will ever see.
