FYI based on your stats you're a noob. Bungie put out a chart with weapons statistics, thorn takes 2 critical or 4 body shots to kill, almost every shotgun in the game takes 1 shot to kill regardless of its to the head or body. Sniper rifles require skill to use effectively because you have to aim them, shotguns are just as effective from the hip as they are aiming down the sight. Not to mention you use a fully automatic shotgun which requires even less skill.
