Assassin's Creed Black Flag had the best story imo, and Unity had the best gameplay.

Debateable. It's very different. Don't agree with oddball either. Edward is a pirate looking for a big treasure. So much so he is more or less obsessed by it. However no one said pirates can't be interesting and Edward sure is interesting. Ezio took his fathers legacy as a naughty italian boy. He did transform. And then the atmosphere of renaiscence Italy is pretty much the best of the series. Variety of swamps open area's and amazing cities is what made that game the best of the franchise. Black Flag is more of a caribean pirate game. So small islands that are still pretty interesting. And some nice old ruines too. It stays true to it's history. That is simply less interesting then the place/era of AC 2. The sailing/naval combat on the other hand are very interesting.
