Like...Everywhere. Ask, say, Excision or Datsik what they call all that music...they'll say bass music. Go on YourEDM and they have a section devoted to 'bass music'. To name a couple.

Well it's my first time hearing that so I just looked it up. It's apparently an umbrella term for a few subgenres of electronic music. I think it's silly to separate it from the "mainstream edm" section because dubstep [i]was[/i] mainstream edm a few years ago.

The way I see it is that generally: - Dubstep, Glitch Hop, Drumstep, Drum & Bass, Moombahcore, Complextro-style Electro House, Breaks and some styles of Trap, are all generally similar and are played/made in conjunction with each other very often. - All other forms (eg. the 'house' group, hardstyle and hardcore, techno etc.) are generally seperate in nature, in that an artist won't generally connect those genres/sounds with 'bass music' in any way. That's the way I see it. After all, the majority of people that like mainstream forms of 'EDM', at the moment it would be Big Room and Progressive House, generally don't involve themselves with Bass Music. I personally just don't like putting this completely different sounding style of music in the same description as Hardwell and Martin Garrix-esque music.

I think your best bet is to start when it comes to breaking up electronic music is the structure of the beat. There's steadybeat like house, hardstyle, and friends; and brokenbeat like drum n bass, dubstep, breakcore, whathaveyou. From there maybe go to bpm or something.
