Should Evolution be taught in schools?
Simple question, I for one say hell yes. Evolution is a major part of biology and science as a whole, and should be taught.
And at the same time we should get intelligent design out out out.

14 回复Okay I am Christian and this is what I think. Yes teach Evolution in schools. But teachers MUST BE FORCED IN SOMEWAY to remain objective when teaching it. Let the children know that it is a not hard proven fact and that there are many other unvalidated theories. And if parents don't like this then their are many Christian private school options available. Also Homeschooling. That's what my parents did, they didn't like the public school curriculum so they homeschooled me until I was 15 then I went to college.

Yes, evolution should be taught in schools. Just like other theories, it is important to modern day science, plus religious people get a lot of representation in the public school system. Social studies classes are almost always based on religion for weeks at a time at the middle and highschool levels, and many schools offer a bible study class. If that is allowed, why can the teaching of evolution be disputed?

3 回复There is no rational basis for rejecting the Theory of Natural Selection by Evolution. All of the available evidence thus far collected and analyzed supports it's veracity. If you deny the truth of evolution, you are only deluding yourself and others.

4 回复Hmm... let's see how people respond to this. I am a devout Christian, but at the same time I also accept evolution to hold some truth as well. In fact I find the two to be in no contradiction to each other. Explanation: The Bible says that God created mankind and the world in a matter of 7 days. However, it also says that God is a being not bound by time (2 Peter 3:8). "With the Lord, one day is a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day." It can be reasonably inferred that with this passage, a day could also be much more than only a thousand years, and vice versa. 6 回复Evolution should be taught, yes. It's essentially proven, but if you think it necessarily "disproves" a God or some kind of higher authority, you're wrong. If you think The Bible even means the world was made in six days, you're wrong. I remember hearing about how the Hebrew word for "day" is essentially meaning "day" as in an era and not 24 hours.

12 回复The point of education is to provide knowledge, not affirm truth. The beauty of freedom is that each may make their own decision once they're exposed to knowledge. Thus, yes. Evolution should be taught in schools. But so should creationism and other relevant topics, each presented with the facts that support them. Force-feeding children everything as 'fact' is in fact a serious untruth. We don't honestly KNOW if Evolution (In it's current theoretical state) is 100% correct, nor can we prove or disprove that Creationism is correct. Eduction is learning to think for yourself. Being presented with facts and learning to make educated decisions of your own.

I find it mind boggling that we still need to have discussions like this, of course evolution should be taught. What better way to captivate the young minds of future scientists than to question the origins and development of life as we know it. "God did it" is a bit of an anticlimax and isn't exactly thought provoking now is it? Regardless of stance towards creation or evolution:[b] religion inhibits scientific progress[/b]. Knowledge and the scientific application of it , that's what will broaden mankind's horizons, not the prattle of preachers.
