So, I finished my first hard Crota last night.
Here's what happened and how it opened my eyes a little.
I put it out on the forums to see if there were any experienced hard raiders that could take a first timer through, I put that I was 32 and have maxed weps including Gjallarhorn (I'll get to that later).. I had a response and joined a group of 5 lads. The guy that had invited me was in fact a level 31, the way these forums talk I thought it was a bit odd as everyone always says no 31's allowed..but he was sporting the glowhoo so I thought I'd run with it. So the team consisted of 4 32's and 2 31's (which of course included me who needed walking through hard)
Turns out that these 31's could more than handle themselves in this raid and even more than that, practically drag my sorry ass 32 through most of it. I know there is a certain amount of elitism involved with being 32 and doing hard mode but judging by last night, after I become accustomed to this raid I won't be turning 31's away... These guys said they had done it with 3 31's and 3 32's and I'm inclined to believe them!
Which brings me into my second point, the Gjallarhorn. I was lucky enough to get this dropped on normal Crota a while back. I levelled it up through bounties and synthesis and never fired it since. I couldn't get why everyone was so for it as I'd much prefer to use my exotic slot for a primary or special. After using it on Crota in hard I can honestly say now, I know why everyone wants this weapon! It's an absolute beast and if at least 3 people have it, Crota stands no chance. I believe Gjallarhorn should be sold by Xur soon to give everybody a fighting chance as lots are still unlucky enough not to have this weapon drop through RNG.
These are my own thoughts, feel free to let me know what you think of my observations and If you agree/disagree.

I love that story there but I'm inclined to say that Xur selling Gjallarhorn would ruin the magic of it. Gjallarhorn is so widely appreciated not only because of its capabilities but also its rarity. If more than even a third of players had Gjallarhorn, I feel that it would no longer be so special, which I think is why Bungie will never allow Xur to sell the rocket launcher.

You are totally right, the vast majority of the fight is getting the timing right with the swordbearer. The only one in significant danger is the sword bearer and everyone stands in the back and rockets, and with 3 horns, crota is downed. So ya, xur needs to bring rhe ghorn back so people can properly bring down the boss

I'll take skill over rank any day . At this point if you see people on the forums saying only 32 is because they suck or don't know what's going on . The end is the quickest and easiest part of the whole raid. As long as you have maxed weapons and a primary raid gun , galli of hunger, ( I used 331 radagast fury rolled to arc with tracker and field scout till I finally got a MF jellyhorn.) you are good . My personal rule is you mess up 3 times in a run or your not shooting rockets at Crota . We gonna ask what's up. That's just on Crota . The rest of the raid is kinda easy.

由Illosopher編輯: 2/10/2015 12:36:31 AMThe problem is getting a accepted into a group. The only way I can get into good groups is if I volunteer to be swordbearer on my hunters. My lvl 32 warlock has a very very hard time getting into groups because my best launcher is a measly truth

The more I play the more I see that beating crota (especially on hard) hangs like 90% on the sword carrier. It really isn't hard to stay alive as a 31. The majority of deaths come from wipes caused by the sword carrier screwing things up or getting too greedy when he hits crota. That or glitches... Or the swordbearer knight being a jerk and running to the farest corner of the map. Nearly all my deaths on crota have been from wipes.

I have the same opinion. It would be more fun if there were more players with gallahorns for the hard raid. I don't think it would break the game because I feel the bottle neck is having team coordination and a good sword bearer.

由Envision86編輯: 2/10/2015 8:07:14 PMI've been through it with 2x31s as well (I might have done it with 3, I can't remember though). The only requirement I have is that people have a tracking rocket launcher and heavy ammo synthesis and switch to their primary to continue shooting Crota after they shoot their 1 rocket (otherwise if there's a gap in damage his shield will regen), because if someone misses Crota and screws up the timing and him going to a knee it messes everything up. Level 30s are too low since they'll get one shotted from the boomers, but 31s are completely fine as long as they have a way to regen health, whether that be from armor or weapons. Fun fact: the first time I beat Crota on hard as the sword bearer, I switched gear to pickups orbs for health after the ogre phase so I went from a 32 to a 31, and then forgot to put them back on and didn't realize until after I killed Crota with the last sword lol.

-Gjallarhorn shouldn't be sold -32s do 20% or 30% more damage than a 31 (forget the exact number) -32s take less -32s tend to have more experience

I've done it with four 31's now. And I've completed it 11 times on hard. I've never hesitated to accept a 31 so far. The whole damage reduction bullshit that ppl talk about is understandable but 2 levels doesn't make them that under leveled.

由BluMan04編輯: 2/9/2015 4:21:16 PMthe first time we beat crota on hard I was 32 and we had 2 other 32s. Rest were 31s. I was using VOC on crota and everyone else was using Legendary RL or VOC as well. Got him down in 3 tries. first 2 attempts were quick wipes due to glitches. if you NEED G-Horn or Hunger to beat crota you suck. Period.

Last time I did the raid I was helping a team I couldn't be able to join the team because they we're full The leader ask to everyone to put their Ghorn on or they going to kick them :/

Do you think that Bungie's goal is to A. Let you have the Gjallarhorn so you and all your friends get all the loot and quit the game or B,. You spend many months getting the best weapon so you can buy the expansion when it rolls around in May? Which do you think they will choose? Just curious.

There should be some exotics xur shouldn't sell similar to vex and necro.. And most exotics should be harder to obtain such as completing bounties for them. This way they feel "earned"

I played through with zero Ghorns on the team. Used icebreakers and one or two people used a slow fire scout rifle to DPS crota. Then the last sword part they rocked him with rockets and everything they got. Normal tracking rockets. No rockets fired until the end for the sake of time. If your team has a system, it can work. And it worked with icebreakers.
