Did anyone notice the bit about races hinted at having equal base stats?

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I was hoping for something like WoW where you have varying base stats and perhaps a racial ability. For instance, Exo, some kind of tazer/stun ability. Humans, scavenge. Awoken, perhaps confuse an enemy. Teleport a short distance? Be better at crafting.

I'm gonna go off on one about skills as well. Will we see our skills as a set number? I think it'd be cool for us to 'feel' our character get better at something without actually seeing a set number increase.

The thing is, it's going to be difficult to distinguish races on the battlefield. If I'm going in for the finishing melee, I'll want to know if my target is about to taze me. With all the helmets and gear, that just won't be possible l. It'll make combat a guessing game.

I personally would rather have a placebo effect than nothing at all. Honestly though I've played enough RPG's that I don't care any more about optimizing my characters build. Infact I was looking forward to building something totally bizarre and impractical for destiny (and pwning anyways) and now that I know I cant do that I'm a little upset.

With a game like Destiny, and it's competitive multiplayer, one class/race would eventually be found to be the 'best' class/race, then that's all you would see. I don't want to restart my character because one ability is just much too overpowered. With a multiplayer style that Destiny will have, one ability is bound to better than the others. Having to restart your character, your customizations, your legacy because you made the 'wrong' choice is wrong. I agree 100% with Bungie.

I missed what you put about crafting. I think the very passive traits could be a good addition; any traits that effect in-combat gameplay should be left out though. Individuality is important, so I do think if there were minor differences between the races it would be OK, maybe better.

Well, they specifically said that there would be no [u]negative[/u] effects of choosing one race over the other. But then rereading it, they also said that there won't be anything like a +8 bonus or something that would make you want to start over later due to a different boost that you should have gotten with a different race.

Personally I hope that Bungie try to subvert these conventions so that we actually get a game that recognises influences but in the process creates a new genre, the "shared world shooter"(Bungie's term). On your final point, I concur. It would be great if it was the direct result of your play style.

I think that they confirmed no difference in base stats is huge. This means race will more likely be a much greater difference such as racial ability... or something like while everyone has a space magic (or energy) stat of 20, the Awakened can learn 3 branches of spells, while the Exo can only learn 1 branch of spells... so choose fire buff for an exo titan while an awakened titan can learn fire buff, group heal and life drain.

由DEZARATH編輯: 4/4/2013 3:07:36 PMI can live with it, but the problem I'm having is when I think Exo I'm thinking Briarios from Appleseed ( the one eyed bunny cyborg graphic used in the GDC) so for me the Exo has to be the largest race due to its machine like nature and how it was sold. I just can't see us all the same size, it takes me out of the universe that Bungie is describing in their concept art and discussions with the public. I think they will make a mistake if players can't also customize their size along side their appearance due to the boring one size fits all mentality.
