How would a gun have helped here? How would shooting anyone have solved anything? If anything, it would have proved the government's point; that Japanese are a danger to the country's security.

See, the Japanese in America wanted to stay. If they had fought, they wouldn't have been allowed to stay, and they would have brought violence down of their friends and families across the country.
There's only so much a military can do. I've read from studies before that one of the reasons why the Soviet Union didn't try to occupy Finland during the Cold War was because so many Finnish people had guns in their homes.

You can't reason with these people. They've lived in a peaceful place all their life and not done enough looking out the window, nor in the rear-view mirror. For all our sake, hopefully they'll never have to see the errors of their ways.
