A community study done by Irvin Rosenfeld *A person who has received marijuana from the government since the '70s which was meant to "prove" marijuana to be harmful but backfired and improved his life immensely) showed that people who smoked both cigarettes and marijuana together were far less likely to develop lung cancer than people who only smoked cigarettes, and there was no correlation between marijuana and cancer. Not to mention it is used often to treat cancer and shown to halt the growth of cancerous cells.

It's actually only been shown to halt cancer growth and cure it. Tommy Chong just cured his prostate cancer with hemp oil. It can damage the lungs slightly, which pales when compared to cigarettes, but these affects are only temporary and easily reversible or completely avoidable with edibles and vaporizers.
