Every run gives you prime engram if you are power level 400 and always make A card.
But i have to say getting those prime engrams does not remove that fact that after you have play campaing, game is absolutely discusting.

Prime engrams reward one tier above your current reward tier. That’s how someone who is 300 will occasionally get a tier 4 instead of tier 3. After 400, you require these primes to progress, at least until ash and iron raises the cap to 550.

Actual Prime drops are even higher, I believe it's +5 when going for 200 -300 +4 for 300 to 400 and +3 for 400 and over. That's how remember the grind. Yes they drop at a tier higher than the usual drops in the ranges stated above.

They’re used for leveling past 400 and for one of the earlier guardian ranks. Clarity is great cause a lot of people just think primes are exclusive to 400+ or are every powerful drop they get.

A lot of people call masterworked weapons, shiny weapons now. When holofoil shaders came out with into the light, the community called them shiny weapons because they had a gold like shiny shader. Holofoil were shiny now many think masterworked is shiny. Now, that could be because during into the light i assume holofoil weapons always dropped masterworked (didn't play the event too much) but know that later event holofoils didnt always drop masterworked. Let people think what they want.... You can try correct terminology on here but it very rarely ends well. The confusion with new primes vs old primes is common so mostly I assume when people on here say prime they mean a drop that's higher light.

I got few drops of prime on solo runs. As long, you have guardian rank 9 and clan banner that prime drop on your list. You are good to go.
