Weeaboo

Weeaboo" is a slang term, often derogatory, for a non-Japanese person who is intensely interested in Japanese culture, particularly anime and manga, and who often adopts aspects of Japanese culture in an exaggerated or inauthentic way. The term originated as a replacement for "wapanese" on 4chan and was initially a nonsense word in a webcomic, according to Dictionary.com. While often used negatively, some individuals have reclaimed the term to refer to themselves with self-deprecation. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Origin: The term "weeaboo" (often shortened to "weeb") emerged on 4chan in the early 2000s as a replacement for "wapanese" (a blend of "white" or "wannabe" with "Japanese"). Meaning: It describes someone who is excessively interested in Japanese culture, particularly anime and manga, and who often adopts aspects of that culture, sometimes incorrectly or in an exaggerated manner, according to Wikipedia. Derogatory Nature: The term is often used to mock or criticize individuals who are seen as overly obsessed with Japanese culture, sometimes to the point of being cringeworthy or annoying. Reclamation: Some people have reclaimed the term "weeaboo" or "weeb" and use it to describe themselves, often with irony or self-deprecation. Related Terms: "Weebo" is sometimes used interchangeably with "weeb" and "weeaboo" and can refer to a hardcore anime fan who is interested in Japanese culture. "Otaku" is another term, more commonly used in Japan, to describe someone with a strong interest in anime and manga, but it doesn't necessarily carry the same negative connotations as "weeaboo

Idiots outside of Japan endearingly refer to themselves and others as otaku, but in Japan, being called such a thing is pretty socially damning Edit: just learned you made this post 'cause you're mad Aifos watches Sailor Moon and you think that makes him a weeb. Touch grass, junior...

      • People like different things, but they are still people, no different biologically than any other person. Define normal and human, whats normal to you could be weird to other people in different parts of the world.

        • This is 2025, the weeaboos now program your software and train AIs, Furries control the platforms you frequent and make the rules that govern them. They are securing your wifi network, they are watching your traffic, they are in your walls... The time of man is over...

          • Golly mister, you sure are obsessed with this. Honestly, your argument would hold more weight if you were trying to make fun of me for watching western cartoons. Why, before Sailor Moon I was watching Craig of the Creek, Ben 10: Omniverse/Ultimate Alien, My Life as a Teenage Robot, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Hailey's On It, Amphibia, The Owl House, and the list goes on. Got a big list of shows that I listen through when I'm at work. While I did try to add FMA:B to the list, it's not available on iTunes, so atm there's not any anime on there, but I will probably be adding Sailor Moon to the list. I guess, unless you include ATLA/Korra. I think the full list is...
-The Owl House -Steven Universe -My Life as a Teenage Robot -Infinity Train -Ben 10 (classic) -Ben 10: Alien Force -Ben 10: Ultimate Alien -Ben 10: Omniverse -Gravity Falls -Amphibia -Star vs the Forces of Evil -The Ghost and Molly McGee -Hailey's On It -Avatar: The Last Airbender -The Legend of Korra -Craig of the Creek -Over the Garden Wall Tried adding Batman: TAS on there, but it didn't distract my brain enough. I plan to add The Amazing World of Gumball onto the list, too, and I'm going to try Xiaolin Showdown again, but like Batman it didn't distract me enough the first time. I wanted to add Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Hilda on there, but they weren't on iTunes. When it comes out, Avatar: Seven Heavens will definitely go on there assuming I have access to it, and I might go add one or two of the Pokemon seasons as well at some point. (definitely not the whole thing, though, probably just Gen 3 and/or Gen 6).
There you go. I'm sure you can find something more accurate to make fun of me for with that. :)
