They kinda did.
Or else exotics would still be hard to get.
Craftable weapons wouldnt be a thing.
Encounters would be way harder in the game.
Exotic quests would be as hard as last word/thorn quest from forsaken.
Trials would still be fireteam only and lighthouse tied to flawless only.
Sbmm would’t be a thing in pvp.
And the list goes on....

While I do agree on that they're mostly QoL things to be able to maintain some form of playerbase. When it comes to the actual content they seem to lean heavy on what the likes of Datto think though. The thing is just that they're so bad at executing what Datto et al are suggesting that it becomes some halfass midway solution that no one really likes. I'm personally not a fan of time-sink "puzzles" in any context but even the ones asking for it don't seem to like the execution in EoF.

Wanna provide any sort of data or analysis on how they cater to what Datto says? Because to me, the game is in the most casual state it’s ever been. It’s easier then ever to obtain almost anything, exotics aren’t rare, you can play on activity to get your pinnacles, materials and other things are just given to you, major grinding has almost disappeared and it’ll be even easier to level up next expansion since you can do anything to obtain higher gear, and there won’t be a cap for doing so. So to me, sounds like you’re using CC as a scapegoat for literally zero reason.

The problem was adepts are supposed to be the best overall weapons. And people liked to grind for them because they're are a different variant. So Bungie down the line most players wanted adepts to be enhanced and Bungie made it happen
