Thoughts on the Trials Matchmaking "bug" last week

So I wanna preface this by saying this is all personal opinion and that I class my self as an average to above average crucible player depending on the day so most points will be from that perspective. I've been playing trials most weekends the last few season since the rework and have been averaging a kinda 1.3ish K/D a season mostly playing with a team so comms, chemistry, etc. This weekend hit different. I was a 1.74 at weeks end and I've played with 4 or 5 different teams, some of which on LFG that I'd never met, as well as some solo games. I played probably 2-3x the games I would on a normal weekend waiting for the Sunday Pool. Playing the first trials weekend this season felt like a breath of fresh air. It didn't matter what card I had compared to my fireteam, didn't matter which pool I was, didn't matter how many wins each of us were on. It was just hop in and play; I go flawless? Cool I'll hop to the lighthouse and join back, doesn't matter if my teams not we'll get matchmade the same regardless, and the same vice versa with their cards. Now looking at stats for trials... I know, but bear with me. If we look at last time burnout was on (8th April Weekend) with a reward being arguably more desirable in Shayura's Wrath there's a pretty big difference. This weekend had 40K less players than last time burnout was on with around 500k less matches. Half a million less matches! But guess what, there were 20K more flawless players across the whole weekend. So with less players, way less games, and a less lucrative reward more people went to the lighthouse. Bearing in mind this is also a weekend with a whole new armour set, 2 new weapons, and a new sparrow, ghost and ship. It just seems to me this is a more fun experience when each games an unknown. You could get a super easy card full of solo's on game 1. Equally you could get a full card of 3 stacks on flawless game. The fun is not knowing and bringing your A game to each match. Some people may say it kinda defeats the point of trials, but honestly the whole point of playing Destiny is to have fun, and I had more fun this weekend in Trials than I have in there any week since week 1 of the refresh. I personally feel bungie could leave this matchmaking system in place long term and then enable the flawless pool again towards the end of a season once player count drops off and the mode becomes naturally more sweaty. Say less than 15% population goes flawless 1 week, that's the catalyst for enabling flawless pool for the season. Interested in hearing opinions from other people of varying skill levels and what their experience was like. I'm sure it's very different for a purely solo player, but lemme know. Genuinely interested in how people found it.
