Destiny's gunplay went downhill once we got maps that are too small for 6v6. All the maps we have now were designed for 4v4. Halo also had very big maps .. If combined arms came back...most people who like gunplay would play that. And shotgun scrubs would stay on the tiny maps.

  • I can agree with this to a point. I think much of the mentality of the general PVP audience is just hold W with Destiny. Some of the problem there isn't that strategy mentality which used to be so much stronger within PVP FPS games. To have a throw back moment, Halo 2, Lockout, People knew how to control a map. If your team stationed up at BR Tower 1, 2, 3 you had a good chance of winning since you knew that you can fling a sniper to you with exploding barrels and had the highest view point on the map. And the fun thing was you didn't even have to be in chat with people. There seemed to be more of understood work together mind set that people would gravitate together more. Now I know that play style was much different between Halo games and Destiny. Halo, outside of lets just say custom playlists such as MLG didn't start off with weapons that you could necessarily win a game with. You'd have to control spawns of guns, know timing of them and also the spawn timers of other players. I feel that more people knew call outs because they were a bit more intuitive in the map design. Today, with Destiny they even give you call out on screen but hardly the general population even knows half of the callouts on one map. It's really not needed since you usually start off with god tier weapons from the start. Only thing that dictates the flow of the game is the amount of special ammo a person has and super timers especially in game types like Trails. I believe there are quite a few maps that play well even in the 6v6 format however I do agree they are a bit of a stretch and are better suited for a 4v4 play style. I think the shotgun meta will continue to be the go to for a lot of people until more open (not necessarily bigger) maps show up into the playlists. I may be in the minority here but I think a more balanced map that we don't see anymore is Eternity. It has plays for Shotgun but it pushed more gun skill over anything. Javelin has a similar feel to it with openness and lanes but if you push into B you're more than likely going to facing someone with a shotgun and should know to back peddle a little.

  • I loved eternity. But it went the same fate as vostok. Got removed because shotgun mains hated it. Also fun fact. Judging from the latest lore...savathun's fleet could be hiding in that black hole near eternity.

  • The lore page itself said that her fleet is hiding beyond the event horizon of a black hole. And we only know of 1 black hole so far in the game. So my guess is that they removed eternity and the other map there to remake the skybox.for a future season.

  • I would love combined arms maps back. Like bastion...first light....skyshock... And maybe even some new ones on nessus or mercury.
