I don't like the idea of bungie toning down ability charge rates.

I like abilities in destiny. They are what distinguish one class from another and allow for them to create AND close gaps between one another in capabilities. Grenades have not felt out of line to me for a VERY long time, same with melees. Before stasis came out, we had some outliers like top tree dawn that could recover one of the best part of their kits quickly, but otherwise everything else was relatively fine. On the forums, I rarely if ever found posts saying to nerf grenades or melee abilities because everything was already at a somewhat fair level. With the introduction of stasis, everything they implemented that made grenades balanced in the first place...they threw out the window completely. One can instakill any super (except for behemoth now...lol) and serves as a barricade that can FREEZE you, one sucks people outside of it's radius, slows and then freezes and blocks areas, the other is a multi tracking instant freeze ability that was the only one to ACTUALLY be nerfed in a way that doesn't make it completely awful to fight. Then you have the melees, which have properties that literally elevate them to heights not even some of the most BROKEN melees have been at. The titans goes incredibly far and has quake level knockback, with an aspect that restores EIGHTY percent of it from using the grenade that one shots supers, while working with a fragment to restore 50% of that broken grenade over time. The hunters tracks, ricochets, slows, can freeze and they get TWO of them, with an aspect that can make one of them freeze you after an action they always do, oh and it can restore a whole melee charge so you can literally cheese people every 12 seconds. The warlocks is a proximity aoe instant freeze ranged melee that creates freezing trackers if they kill you while frozen, which can proc damage bonuses or super energy. I don't think I need to explain anymore what's wrong with stasis. They do more than simply serve as the most versatile subclass in the game, they are also just downright broken, being capable of almost literally doing anything you can want them for and more. It's fun as hell to have that level of broken after the game has gotten stale, but I find it ridiculous that the only outliers that broke the formula that kept abilities in check...being the reason bungie is only NOW looking into toning down abilities. Their excuse of "to focus more on gunplay" is just a bunch of bullshit because the gunplay has only shifted because of how stupidly broken stasis is. Our ability cooldowns, compared to destiny 1, are ALREADY slower on average by quite a significant margin, while also being weaker damage wise. And if the longer base cooldowns that stasis has doesn't serve enough as a limiter for how stupid they are, then that shows that there's more to it than what's on the surface as to what's wrong with them...like maybe not giving them 50%+ ability regen for pushing a button. Having well spring or demolitionist still requires gunplay and in 3v3 modes said gunplay is only ruined in pvp because of stasis literally CRIPPLING gameplay itself by being broken. Please be careful about what you tune bungie. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE YOU GUYS DID WITH YEAR 1 OF D2. We don't need 8 minute supers and nearly 2 minute cooldowns on grenades.

  • Yesterday I decided to start anew on this account in D1. I’m at level 22 and still haven’t seen an exotic anything. It’s been fun, challenging (not overly. But enough when RNG is only dropping fusions and crap I don’t like using). After playing all day, I realized how much fun both D1 and D2 is without exotics or insane builds with supers being able to charge one right after another. I’d totally be ok with D2 having the same progression and mechanics D1 has. I really like grinding to unlock an ability on my hunter. I don’t enjoy grinding it because Bungie’s only goal in D2 is having us stay in the game. D1 doesn’t feel that way. I’d still buy a remastered D1. After all, D1 is why I fell in love with Destiny. D2, although its addictive play is fun, the grinding towards really nothing, makes me want to slit my wrists.

    • I mean some people rely on abilities too much I’d be okay with a tone down with grenades and melees though class abilities are fine atm
