Got banned on husband's PC despite not doing anything ban-worthy?

So I recently got back into Destiny last week after an extended period of time away from the game starting near the beginning of Shadowkeep. I no longer had my own laptop, so I asked my husband if I could reinstall the game and play on his computer. Played the game for a while and decided that it might be worth sticking with a bit more long-term, if not only for the season. Today a friend of mine bought Beyond Light for me on Steam and was super excited about it. Played through campaign, then did a bit of Crucible to finish bounties. About 30 minutes ago, I went to go load into Last Wish to farm kills for some Gunsmith bounties and suddenly got hit with a ban out of literally nowhere. This shocked me, as I've never used cheats in any game and try to abide by the rules of all the games I play, so I had no idea what could have caused this to happen. I've sent Bungie a few appeal requests, as I vehemently believe this is in error, but reading through the forums, I'm learning that Bungie is incredibly anal about appeals, so I have little hope of regaining my account.

  • Using cheats isn’t the only reason to get banned. Simply having the wrong type program open/running (even if not for D2) can lead to a ban. Might help us help you if you list all programs that were running/in use within about an hour of your ban. Plus, you need to give Bungie time to review your appeal. It appears you just recently got banned, so if you’ve submitted multiple appeals already then Bungie will not be too favorable of that.
