Was just curious... I personally really dislike it compared to elimination matches. Feels just like a very drawn out version of those games. Where the beginning of a round usually tilts in someones favour, except it is much more difficult to make those plays that clutch the round. I assume that they do it because the 2v3's and 1v2's are much less forgiving in d2, and they need those extra lives as padding. but honestly. most of the time either you win a game, or lose it within those first few lives anyway. Not to mention kills being more diluted during each game. I can only imagine comp being more fun and frantic if it was a straight 3v3.
