• ? They are one of the best types of companies in terms of ability to work from home... A little bit is not an understatement of exaggeration.

  • You need me to explain how Covid-19 is doing more than disrupting work flows a little bit?

  • Because the entire it industry can essential work without a hitch, it is fundamentally an online job anyway. Covid is mainly affecting people making physical products/ distributing them. Ok, now that I’ve explained my stance, can you stop avoiding the question and explain HOW it is affecting bungie in a major way?

    1. They don't have the same number of computers/monitors they have at work as they do at home (speculation, but a pretty safe assumption. Watch a Bungie vidoc if you don't believe me.) 2. Their home PCs aren't designed the same way as their work computers (speculation again, but an educated guess). 3. Their home PCs don't have the same software as their work computers (tiger engine, etc.) 4. Even if they download all the stuff to mirror their work PCs, there's no guarantee that their home PCs will work as well with them. 5. This is in the general sense, but Bungie employees aren't "just IT workers". They're a part of a project that involves literally hundreds of people coming together to make one product. Things like group meetings & other collaborative efforts just work better in person than they do over video chats. 6. Being at home generally isn't a conducive environment for getting work done. Even if some people at Bungie have no problem taking their work home with them, others can have kids that aren't at school right now or other responsibilities at home that they can't just pull away from for eight to ten hours straight every day. 7. This is a pandemic we're dealing with. They're not just taking vacation time like the Christmas holiday. Bungie has over 600 employees, & you nor I know what each of their individual circumstances are right now. For all we know, anyone & everyone at Bungie could be dealing with the severe illness or even death of a coworker or someone close to them right now.

  • Time to dissect
1. They don't have the same number of computers/monitors they have at work as they do at home (speculation, but a pretty safe assumption. Watch a Bungie vidoc if you don't believe me.)
True, this would cut down workflow. It's almost as if bungie didn't allow anyone to take home their spare monitors.... Oh wait. Making a "safe assumption" we can say that bungie is doing everything in their power to make home working just as similar as being at work in the office. Unfortunately I can't prove this, but the same goes for your point to. So let's cut this point off at a stale mate.
2. Their home PCs aren't designed the same way as their work computers (speculation again, but an educated guess).
Unfortunately you can't get very far with an argument that is based off of speculation. Again, I would say that if the employees didn't have home pc's up to par (which is a pretty big stretch, most computers in the modern age can run work tools and art tools). But here is my much more "educated guess". Why would these people be working for a video game company if they didn't have anything to play video games on. Gaming pc's are high end. That's a given. And if you say "well the finance department is a flexible career not bound to an industry.." then I can rebut again and say that people in finance wouldn't need a powerful home pc anyway.
3. Their home PCs don't have the same software as their work computers (tiger engine, etc.)
This is just factually wrong. Do you think bungie would release two articles on the steps they take for working-from-home and NOT give anyone the correct programs to do their job? Also, the tiger engine was made by them, hence, they can legally give out licenses to the software at no time's notice. I get this was an inflating point, but it frustrated me none-the-less.
4. Even if they download all the stuff to mirror their work PCs, there's no guarantee that their home PCs will work as well with them.
You are repeating the last two points into one to boost how big of a list this comeback is... moving on. See my previous comments above to get my response to this one. Trust me, it's just as valid.
5. This is in the general sense, but Bungie employees aren't "just IT workers". They're a part of a project that involves literally hundreds of people coming together to make one product. Things like group meetings & other collaborative efforts just work better in person than they do over video chats.
I know these guys are more than simple IT workers. But 1. Even while they are in office, they still transfer their work and receive it via internet and spreadsheet (and whatever the art equivalent is) If you look at the Vidoc's and say "yep, this person pointing to someone's screen over their shoulder and pointing to different points on it is TOTALLY how a video game company works." Then I regret to inform you, you are mistaken. Vidocs and almost like soap operas when it comes to their in between shots. it's completely staged, from the one supervisor to the guy using head gestures to demonstrate something. And I can tell you from experience, group video chats are just as effective as office groups. It just is.
6. Being at home generally isn't a conducive environment for getting work done. Even if some people at Bungie have no problem taking their work home with them, others can have kids that aren't at school right now or other responsibilities at home that they can't just pull away from for eight to ten hours straight every day.
I am confused by this one. bungie employees would normally be away from their kids for that amount of time each day. the only difference is they are at home. not at the office. It doesn't make a difference, the employee is still working for those hours.
I can't combat this one for the same reason you can't verify it. we have no clue what's going on behind the scenes. You seem to have lost focus on what I am advocating here. I wanted TRANSPARENCY. and the fact that neither of us can prove this last point just proves me right. I'm not sure why you think I need more content. I am fine with the content and they are doing fine from home. In your original reply you nick-picked a sentence and claimed that it was about content. I will, henceforth, paste the full context of my sentence.
I get it, the covid stuff may impact their workflow a little bit. BUT how hard is it for a bungie dev to log on and say "so trials ain't doing too hot. we are working on it, it's challenging because of X and Y. We expect this to be fixed by ___"
while I may have come across heated in this thread, I appreciate you keeping it civil in such an... uncivil time and place...

  •
In your original reply you nick-picked a sentence and claimed that it was about content.
I never claimed it was about anything. I "nitpicked" that sentence because it invalidates anything that comes after it. Survival is generally priority #1 for human beings, so for you to say a pandemic "slows the workflow a little bit" shows that you're not viewing this thing rationally. It's perfectly fine for you to not take it seriously, but that doesn't mean nobody else should.

  • And they’re based in Seattle, which currently Washington is Home to the city with the most infection cases. Shit has hit the fan there.
