KS27, I love your fan fiction. Because I have so much time now at home because of the virus, I want to try my hand at writing fanfiction my self, where do you think I should start?
Thank you very much! I’m glad you like my writing
Okay, I’ll gladly help to the best of my ability. I’m off to bed right now and need some sleep, so I don’t have time for long in-depth discussion. So I’ll try to give you a start to get the ball rolling and later we can pick things up. Sound good?
So, I suppose the first step would be spitting out whatever ideas you have. It helps to pick a topic you like, something that fascinates you, or some of your biggest “What-if” ideas. They can follow the Destiny timeline/lore or have twists and differences or whatever you want. You don’t need to come up with details or complex plots yet, just base ideas that you can develop later. For example, some ideas off the top of my head:
A Guardian fighting and dying during the Great Disaster.
A one shot of Saint-14 destroying Vex at the Lighthouse back in the old days.
Dark Age warlords at war with each other.
A Dead Orbit scout stumbling onto something crazy.
A story where Taniks killed Andal and Cayde and a new group of Hunters decide to join in on the same Dare to kill Taniks.
A comedy about two Guardians who annoy each other but are trapped together in Hive tunnels.
A Lightbearer is revived in the Dark Ages outside a town and the people there knew him in his past life.
It would also help to think of what type of story you want to write and how long you want it to be:
Comedy, romance, drama, mystery, action, a mix of several genres.
Long, short, super short (just one or two posts for the whole story), or a story with no definite end.
I myself have fanfics that are one post, fanfics that have several chapters, and fanfics with more than 30 chapters.
Make a list of your ideas, pick the ones you like the most, and see if you can start fleshing out the ideas with a little detail.
I hope this helps. Until later, best wishes.
