The Hunter extended his hand at the child. She hesitated for a few seconds, still unsure if it was safe for her to trust him. “Don’t worry,” Said Jisho, still maintaining a calm and friendly voice. “You’re safe now. My name is Jisho-3.” After a moment, the girl took Jisho’s hand, he proceeded to stand up slowly. The girl followed. “What’s your age?” Jisho asked “I’m 12” Responded the girl. “What’s your name?” “I-I don’t know” She didn’t know her own name?! Jisho dropped the girl’s hand. “How is it you don’t know your own name?” “My parents never gave me one” She said in a sad voice. “And they never will.“ Jisho’s heart sank. He looked at the console behind him, the one hiding the woman’s corpse. Her mother. Jisho’s own body was blocking the girl’s view, not letting it land on the bodies of the Fallen and the man impaled with the Fallen blade. Her father. He turned his head back to the girl, expecting to see the face of a crying child. To Jisho’s surprise, the girl wasn’t crying. “Come on, let’s get out of here. Close your eyes and don’t open them until I tell you to.” She followed Jisho’s instructions. The Hunter took the girl’s hand again and guided her through the rubble and corpses, making sure she didn’t touch any of them. They eventually found an exit. Jisho instructed the girl to open her eyes. She did as told. Jisho opened the rusty door separating the outside from them. The rain had stopped. The first thing they saw was the bright sunrise ascending from the horizon, patiently coming out of hiding behind the mountains. “It’s beautiful!” Said the girl. With the bright source of light on the horizon, Jisho could now see the various features on the girl’s face, previously unseen thanks to the poor lightning inside the building. She had black straight hair, uneven as the right half was larger than the the left half, ending just above her right shoulder while the left half hardly reached nose level. The whole haircut seemed as if someone had made a downwards diagonal slash from left to right from behind of her head, connecting both the right and left ends together. Her face, on the contrary, was totally symmetrical. She had a thin chin and neatly defined cheeks. Her skin was smooth and clean, without counting the dirt in her face of course. Then, Jisho saw her eyes. Small protruding amber eyes. “Amber” Jisho said suddenly. “What?” “From now on, your name is Amber.”
