There has been discussion about this already, but we aren’t counting the generic “player” Guardians. They are all the same character and different characters at the same time thanks to Bungie’s design of the game, and all share the “I’m the op protagonist” role while also all players that aren’t you specifically also don’t count as actual characters at all, while you yourself are considered the same by other players. This post refers to actual specific Guardian characters, not the player(s).
