Appendix of Vex Perspective:
They enter this universe due to a Hive wager.
They are immediately at war with the Hive.
They realize the Hive has enemies but cannot simulate light as one mission explains.
They establish a base of operations at Sol at a time when there is not yet a humanity. Why?
The Traveler's cycle is suspected to be:
- find planet
- attempt various forms of modification on local life forms that hopefully allow them to directly fight the Traveler's enemies.
- move to next planet in case of failure, try something else.
This could lead the Vex to do this: (Speculation)
- find a civilization before the Traveler arrives and observe with the end goal to understand and simulate light. Find an answer to the question of how the one enemy that had the Worm gods contained fights the hive. To that end, Earth is one observation of many.
- the enemy of my enemy is my friend and therefore the Vex give the Traveler more meat to throw at the grinder, even if direct interaction seems impossible.
- it is noteworthy how unscathed the Vex were by the Collapse, probably because they had seen it before and knew how to deal with it.
There is an argument to be made that the Vex not only arrived long before humanity, but also created humanity to draw in the Traveler. The Vex might not be able to simulate the light, but they have seen what it needs to throw itself at the Hive. To that end, humans are a successful Vex experiment just for killing Oryx alone.
There is also connective tissue between the physical form of the Vex and the ideas of Clovis Bray on how to evolve humanity. It is as if Clovis had seen the Vex, knew what was coming and therefore went all out on robotification (minds of the deep stone crypt?) and AI, just as the Vex.

I always thought that the Vex created their bases on Venus, Mercury, Nessus, and Mars after the Travellers arrival... ... well in that they discovered humanity at this time, but as they have a control over timelines to some extent, they built their bases in the past, in order to gain a foothold in the solar system long before any resistance could take shape

由4thVariety編輯： 12/28/2018 11:43:32 PMThe Vex do not time-travel outside the Vault of Glass, at least that is the consensus last I checked. Everything on Mercury is a simulation and not time travel. As far as I piece it together there were always Vex on Venus, but Vex activity spiked with the arrival of the Traveler. In any event, the Vex seem to be a minor power that has yet to understand what drives the real conflict between light and dark. Even Oryx, for all his power, acted more like carrion eater than a champion of the dark. He was there to pick on the remnants in pursuit of his sword logic. Mara Sov on the other hand has been retconned into being the person who built a trap for Oryx to exploit for personal gain (Tyrannocide V). Now there is another trap running in the Dreaming City. Maybe we should stop wondering about the Nine and really start questioning about her being the alleged number 10. Especially her comment "I have lived alongside you" in the Lore Entry Oracle is concerning. If a seemingly all-powerful force from beyond calls you Ekpyrosic (i.e. Destruction of all) and proceeds to ask what you want to know, you definitely play in the big leagues. Poor old Oryx had to steal the power from his superior. Mara got it basically offered for free. The death of a good friend, sure, but in Mara's book, that is still as dirt cheap as it gets.

<The Vex can loosely time travel, however all of their doing can only change the future, not the past. They're essentially restricted to time's laws but they can slightly dodge it by sending individual units back and forward through it. Also Mara cheated her way to power. She wasn't even Ascendant until she wished it.>

Mara is doing the same and it works. That is more than you can say about any other enemy of Osmium Court. Chronologically speaking Mara does this (again Tyrannocide V): [quote]She has been thinking of a logic of her own, of secrets and hidden designs. [..] the pieces of a bomb do not look at all like weapons until they are assembled.[/quote] She finds a way to bypass sword logic, even though in the cut-scene it looks like she is smashing her fleet head on into Oryx. Her plan is to make it appear to follow Oryx's sword logic rules, while exposing the weakness. Many Youtube videos will try to tell you that the violence feeds Savathun, in her own words, violence is not what feeds her. It is instead the inability to understand her when we assume the cycle of violence is feeding Savathun. Mara plays into this, because once Mara has fed Savathun to the point where most of her power comes from the failure to understand what the Dreaming City loop really does, she can kill Savathun with two words: I understand. Our mission as Guardians, is to purge all Imbaru tribute Savathun gathers from outside the Dreaming City. Once that is done, Savathun is done. Not because the cycle stops, but because the last source of he power is understood.
