How about the people trying to teach others the raid? Or simply practicing a boss fight? Some people might not have the time to finish a whole raid, if they are doing it with players who aren't that experienced, or if you play with people from different timezones. This is just another way to exclude players, so some people can have their special snowflake status. I honestly have no problem with the "no clear count if the raid isn't completed", (we had this in D1 too) but removing the checkpoints has no actual benefit, as far as I can see.

I'd be happy if ALL the counters simply gave credit for each encounter instead of just the final boss fight. The raid ghost already has this so the emblem counter and numbers provided to 3rd party api could be changed to reflect this. It would certainly be more fair as those of us running the full raid would get 4 instead of just one (using Leviathan as an example). Checkpoint farmers can likely do 4 boss fights in the time it takes most teams to complete a full run so the numbers would be more appropriate for the actual raid effort. Would you agree with that?

  • I'm curious, what exactly is your infatuation with the emblem counter? Just trying to understand your perspective, not judging. From where I sit it makes absolutely no difference so I am trying to determine if i am perhaps missing something

I'm not saying everyone is into leaderboards but it is a huge thing in the gaming world. I'll never be anywhere even close to the top of a PVP leaderboard but raiding is my thing and I like being in the top. I put a lot of time and effort to get there and stay there. The loot is garbage so pretty much the only reward is the leaderboard and emblem. The leaderboard numbers are driven by these clears and it's not fair that the checkpoint farmers are sitting at the top when the people who run the whole thing repeatedly don't get credit on the same level. As for the 'emblem' number, well why have the number if it's not to show off or brag a little? Seriously, why are the numbers there at all for any of the game elements (pvp, nightfall, etc.)? You can't really cheese the other emblem numbers but you can the raid. Why should a checkpoint farmer have a fake number that makes it look like they ran a raid 100 times when in fact they only ran ONE part of it that many times. Someone who ran the entire raid 25 times technically did just as many fights but the number is reflected as 1/4th the number of the CP farmer. Why is that fair? It's not. As to why it matters to me, well I don't think I should have to justify why numbers should actually be a fair and accurate representation.

  • The clear count in D1 counted each encounter you cleared. It seemed to work to everyones satisfaction. To be perfectly honest, I don't see this as an issue at all. You can have a billion raid clears, but if you played with the same group and got (sorta) carried every time, you're still gonna have issues the second you run it with a new team. If you're a good raider, you can adapt and support your fireteam no matter who who play with, or what position you have. That shows in how you play, not in a somewhat arbitrary number on an emblem.

  • This guy only plays with people who have completed the raid. He doesn't play with newbies so for him a raid probably takes an hour or less. That's not a big deal. One of my recent full calus raids took 3 1/2 hours because I was teaching 2 newbs. Ask me to start over again after 3.5 hours of grinding and I'll never come back to it.

[/quote] First of all, you have no idea what you are talking about. I've done more sherpa runs on leviathan than you have, WAY more. You've done more than me on EOW but big whoop, that ones a piece of cake. You've got 8 for Leviathan and I have 65 so please stop acting like you know me or what my raid crew is about. Second, my crew has maxed guided games in BOTH seasons and we continue to participate. This means we are always down to help new people through a raid when time permits and we don't have clan members backed up waiting for runs (full runs of course). [quote]That's not a big deal. [/quote] I once spent 5 hours on a prestige pools fight with beginners so you aren't special or unique in that you've got some lengthy runs. But seriously, why would you have to start over... if you're such a great sherpa you'd get your team through it. BTW, your average run time for EOW is 26 minutes and 1.5 hrs for Leviathan so please stop acting like you are doing 3.5 hour grinds every night.

  • 65 out of 260 runs. I have something like 125 sherpas for 220 runs total. So most of the time you are running with others who know the raid which makes for easy runs. When was the last time you spent more than an hour or so on the raid? Mine was last saturday as I was teaching 2 newbs in my clan. I do teaching raids every saturday and often the team doesn't finish as people have things come up or personalities clash or their internet crashes. No one wants to have to start over and do the whole thing again because a team broke up at calus. If people know they have to start over they will never commit the time to start a raid.

Regardless, my point was really aimed at you making a statement (almost presented as fact) that I don't run with noobs ever. It was an attempt on your part to belittle me but the truth is, you don't know what your talking about.

  • Exactly. When I play with my friends, who has a 13 hour time difference, it sometimes gets to late to continue. Especially if we lose a player and have to get a replacement. I think our raid team had about an hour clear time, but that is not the case for the majority of the clan.
