infinitely more valuable than anyone at Bungie thinks it is.
Its been my biggest complaint since day one of this franchise, NOBODY at Bungie respects their players time.
Crap rewards?
The bullshit we had with purple and exotic engrams returning blue gear?
Earning your exotics all over again after Y1?
Raid bugs wasting HOURS of your time?
And so on and so on and so on, and nothing but empty platitudes and hand wringing from the devs.
Remember when they lied about Xur being completely random as to the reason why he never sold the Jellyhorn? only for him to sell the Jellyhorn about a week before it was nerfed into the ground?
Thousands of players hammering away at buggy, sometimes impossible to complete content that virtually required you to have this weapon to overpower their bug filled poorly tested bullshit.

Xur sold Gjallarhorn the first or second week he came. You didn't have to get the exotics again. You could upgrade them. The legendary weapons dropping rare's was bogus but the only raid bugs that prevented me from completing something were at Oryx. I've done everything in that game, got every exotic, legendary, achievement, etc. Oryx had the teleporting ogres, sometimes no one would be torn between dimensions and occasionally a platform might not spawn (usually because someone got off a plate). The crota glitches where he would stray from his normal path and chase you were hilarious but didn't cost you hours of team wiping and it was usually a networking fault. Go to orbit and give the person with the best connection fireteam leader. Problem solved.
