Bungie is gonna penalize US for THEIR error

So Bungie is gonna be introducing a quitting penalty. Do you know why so many are quitting? It’s because the match making is just plain terrible. A player in the solo queue is getting matched up against 3 or 4 person fire teams. They aren’t gonna stand a chance in this team shooting stuff. I can’t handle it anymore. What a terrible, TERRIBLE idea that we get penalized when we are gonna be stuck with this sandbox and meta for 7 long months (assuming that change actually comes in March). I have tried and tried with D2. But this is terrible.   • personally I don't care I suck at pvp and only do enough for milestone completion each week. I never quit though no matter how bad a tonking I am getting. I look to myself as a requirement to improve rather than blame matchmaking to be honest though.

  • If there's gonna be a penalty for leaving, then I'm gonna be petty as shit, and throw the match. Grab an ammo-less sword, and run around trying to melee the enemy with it. Gonna have some fun while losing.

  • D1: go in solo, see opposing team stacked with 6-man group, and still play thinking I have a chance to upset the odds. D2: go in solo, see stacked team of 4, feel like there ain’t no way these blueberries with help me so it’s an auto loss.

  • Agreed. I won't be coming back to the game as long as it matches solo players against full teams. But it's even worse that they intend to punish solo players for leaving a game that they had no chance of winning because Bungie doesn't know how to do the most basic form of fair matchmaking. I realize that doing it right would increase wait times by a lot. You know what else increases wait times? Not having anyone online to play against. Which is what will happen with this kind of stupid matchmaking.

    • I guess that I have a different opinion on the matter. Team shooting is not a new thing in either Destiny games' team PvP modes. I do agree that the current matchmaking in Quickplay and Iron Banner modes does often pit full random teams against teams that are all from a particular clan (or at least a group that is running together), and that will often set the full random team at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of communication and experience playing together, but that happened in D1 as well. And skill based matchmaking does seem to be completely absent from D2 PvP in pretty much any mode. But in Quickplay and IB modes, I've been on teams that frequently are subject to players leaving as I play solo quite a bit. My clan mates all have different play schedules, and we aren't able to play together as a group except on the weekends. While I would prefer to finish out a match with the team that I started with, win or lose, I don't get frustrated when players leave my match, or I get stuck on a team with goofball players that don't seem to want to work to win, or they don't play the objective and try to play every match as though it is Clash. Often times, one team will take off with a pretty substantial lead, and some players are left thinking that the match is doomed early on, which is more time than not a premature decision that would show different results had the quitting players actually just stayed in the fight a little longer. I can't count the number of matches that I've played that have started out this way, only to have us turn it around and either win or close the gap and lose by considerable smaller margin. I have been left with 2 teammates, 1 teammate, and even no teammates. I'll always finish the match. In fact, the last couple of times that I was left as the only fireteam member against a full fireteam, one of which was a full clan team, I was laughing so hard that I had trouble playing. It was funny. And I actually had fun just trying to see how well I could do against 4 other players. That is not a different scenario than being in a Survival match and being the last man standing against a full fireteam, or even being in a D1 Trials match and being the last man standing against a full fireteam (except that it would have started out as a 3v3 match). I like a challenge, and being that I am not a top tier player by any stretch of the imagination, most matches are a challenge anyway. But players quitting is the nature of the game, and I have no control over that, so I have to accept that if I am going to play. While I would much prefer to finish the match with the team that I started with, I try to make the best of it if my teammates quit, and I do my best to win, even if it is (or seems) hopeless. It is very rewarding to be able to turn a match around and do well at it, win or lose, even without a full team. While I respect everyone's right to their own opinion, and the people that quit have their reasons for quitting (based on their opinions), I don't have a favorable opinion of the people that quit, just as I'm sure that they most likely think that I'm wasting my time pursuing a lost cause in a heavily offset match that I am at a severe disadvantage. In that light, I would entertain the idea of quit penalties depending on what the penalties actually are and the severity regarding them depending on the frequency of quitting by repeat "offenders". I will say that I don't think that any sort of penalties should be implemented until a Rumble type mode and/or a solo-only type mode is available. I think that would be fair. If players are given a choice of modes, both team play and solo queue play, and they willingly enter a team play activity, they should accept that it is a team play mode and understand that if they quit after committing to team that there will be some sort of consequences that affect their stats, ability to enter such modes for a duration, etc. As far as the discussion of team shooting, that has been present in both version of Destiny, and it is an efficient means of play when it is possible. Being that I play D2 as a solo player in PvP the majority of the time (and did the same in D1 PvP), I face teams employing that play style the majority of the time. I lose to that frequently. And sometimes, I can win against it. The fun, for me, is in the chase. Not everyone shares that viewpoint, nor do I expect them to.

      I don't care about being matched against full party's. I only care about my bullets doing normal damage and seeeing the enemy appear on my screen at exactly the same time, as i see them appear on my screen. Then at least i know that i did my best and i lost, because i was bad or the enemy had better skills.

      • I'll probably get a lot of heat for this but it really isn't that big a deal and it's only in the competitive playlist & trials(at least last I knew it was). It's only going to suck for all the players that are overly competitive & can't take getting stomped &/or don't like losing.

        • Nobody likes a quitter. Suck it up Casual scrubs and do something constructive besides cry about the matchmaking. I solo que more often then not. I get Rekt more often then not. Big friggen deal. I’m proud of my 1.1 KD. Seriously I’m not proud. I don’t really care. However stick it out, try and stay positive. it is tough playing 4 man fireteams in this game but for the other guys on your team stick around.

            So what happens when we get contacting destiny servers and get kicked? We get dinged for server error that's what. This seems like a low priority right now. Like putting up a wall in the Crota Raid instead of fixing the sword that disappears. Once again let's worry about what the players are doing wrong instead of what the game devs are doing wrong. This game is in serious trouble right now and the forums are as toxic as I have ever seen anywhere. This is because the people playing are frustrated, this quit penalty is fuel on the fire. Bad timing, not a bad idea, but the wrong time for it in my humble opinion.

            • How are they going to penalise quitters? Take for example Overwatch - you win less for your next matches, you cant play for some time, and they take your Competetive points like you have lost twice. In Destiny 2 - you win nothing from matches, there are no competetive points, there is no ranking, what are they going to take away from me if I quit? Put a timer to not be able to play? If I quit during a match I have allready decided that I will not play. Are they going to take away my two tokens and a blue? What are they going to panalise me with? Take away my vault space? Give me another Better Devils? Naah I have a better idea. If you quit a match you get a stack of 200x shaders that you have to delete ... that would show quitters ...

                • They don't give you the option of what game type you want to play, often times match you with either people you probably won't beat or folks that aren't even on your continent (genius P2P system), or sometimes puts you in a "match in progress" (how many times is the score actually in your favor, seriously) or the most popular " You have been disconnected from the game world, visit www.bungie.net for details"... ... [i]and they want to incorporate a penalty system[/i]. A system that will likely malfunction and just piss off more people.

                • People quit because they want to play a game mode they like, not a game mode they hate. Rotate into Supremacy? See ya. Control? Bye. Oh, Supremacy again? Bye. Supremacy again, really? Bye. Oh Clash. Cool.(a few minutes of fun later). Supremacy? I give up.(turns console off and watches Rizzoli and Isles reruns on Amazon)
