Congratulations on appearing to be an ignorant idiot. You do realise that maintenance encompasses various essential tasks such as server restarts, backups and database archiving, as well as making changes to the game code, right? The clue is in the word 'maintenance'. Even if it were 'just' changes to the code, this isn't a case of adding a few lines here and there - this would have been done some time ago - the latest build of the game has to be uploaded and deployed to the various servers, integrity checks undertaken, as well as additional testing before they let us back into the game. Easily 2-3 hours work for a modest software deployment, let alone one serving 2-3 MILLION customers. This whole process has to be undertaken even if only one line of code changes. As for the nature of the changes made this week, do you honestly think much was going to change so close to Christmas/New years? It will be the end of January before we see any substantial changes to the game as development sprints typically last 2-3 weeks before deployment and they only acknowledged the community's complaints a week ago.

  • As for xmas new years, sry man, my livelihood doesn't take a back seat to what day of the calendar it is. If i horrifically mess up my job, my holiday is cut short till fixed. Literally 1 line of code that never, ever, ever, ever, ever in any grown adults mind would have made sense to include is not going to be excused. When you're so stupid you accidentally lock out over 70% of your player base from the core functions if the game you sold them for 60 plus dollars against many bait and switch laws, you fix it immediately, not months later. But again, the issues that exist are not from a week ago, there are dozens of issues with basic mechanics that were broken since day one, solely based on trying to monetize in game transactions and also boneheaded lack of vision and play testing combined with not listening to the community. So sry, not buying the 'it's the holidays' cause holiday break doesn't start in July August September October nor beginning of November. Gaming us a year round market, and having a great game leading into the holidays and improving issues for the influx of new players because if the holidays is the top priority if successful companies. Ever notice retail companies hire more and pay more when it is the time of year the make their profit? Basic stuff.

    I ABSOLUTELY expected zero effort to be put into changing or improving the game. So i supposed underwhelming wasn't the right word... Lived down to expectations was the right word.

    Lol, your brilliant chief. You do realize the publish their patch notes. Further none of those changes were needed or made. This is a fun at times but horrifically broken game in multiple ways. Further the ONLY focus of the devs has been the in game slot machine with zero regard for any customer who purchased the base game and especially the expansion. This game has made dozens of worst of 17 and biggest disappointments if 17. This latest patch, which delivered on literally nothing (even broken things that have been promised to be solved since month 1 and 2) is a perfect example of why this game is hemorrhaging users at an embarrassing rate. Compared to how many users and hours played it had to pool from since D1, the failure to...'get it'... is inexcusable. Instead of bouncing back off of the weak launch of D2 and underwhelming expansion by, ya know, doing something different, just more of the same that had driven most of the player base away. Every patch and update promises improvements and under delivers. The mistakes made require purposeful negligence. Like the errors and issues myself, my clan, and almost universally everyone find take minutes to hours to find. Lack of any play testing or surveying of players is a choice they are making. Only complete lack of brain function or simple refusal to play test explain most of these blunders. So, i stand by my statement, how the -blam!- do these employees cash their checks without being embarrassed?

  • No disrespect was intended by my post, however I would suggest that you work for a few years in software development before passing comment on developers deserving their paychecks. They work to executive's roadmaps. The game director and marketing teams however deserve every ounce of venom you decide to throw their way as they have outright lied to the community time and time again.

  • I absolutely blame executives IF the software side did their jobs, identified these problems, pointed out these problems, recommended they be fixed, and the execs refused. Then ABSOLUTELY it isn't their fault. But again, it seems clear either said execs are idiots, not employing enough or good enough devs. So, if it's the execs it's on those devs to make clear they aren't too blame. Everyone knows for a fact the battlefield 2 disaster was execs not devs. They made the game they were asked to make, and the entire planet knew that because how those devs went about it. The public perception of the issues with destiny 2 is the execs and devs are aware and working too fix. So that leaves very few possibilities as to why the failures patch after patch, fast approaching a 6 month mark. Again in my life of work, construction and remodeling, i will not put my companies name or employees name on something broken or something crap... Sometimes that means losing a gig it paycheck in order to save my own and company's reputation. So, right now, it's on the devs to make clear the issue isn't them, it's the people cutting the checks. Either overtly or through channels they are allowed too.
