Eververse sucks, it is partially to blame for the enormous problems that Destiny 2 has.
With that, just because some European legislatures have decided loot boxes to be gambling, does not make it so.
It order for it to be gambling, profit must be at stake. You have nothing to gain (monetary wise) by buying a loot box and the stuff inside has no monetary or resale value. It more closely resembles buying a pack of pokemon cards, which no one would label that gambling.
Yes, loot boxes are their to increase profits and YES loot boxes suck but it is not gambling.

由Fridén編輯: 1/3/2018 2:51:48 PMThere is more than one definition for many words. "play games of chance for money; bet." "take risky action in the hope of a desired result." The gambling that requires you to be 18 to participate in, that is not what this is. If we stick to the definition you provided, insurance contracts would be gambling and so would investment in the stock market, chucky cheese games, carnival games, trading cards, etc. There is a reason that none of those require an adult to participate in. There are not gambling. Vegas will never sell loot boxes.

That's because you're confusing the literal definition of gambling with the figurative definition of gambling. Here in front of you, you have a real life person with a gambling addiction (meaning the OP) who, along with several other similar people who say loot box microtransactions prey on their addiction, yet you fervously continue to support a system that is rightly considered one of the deadly sins of the gaming industry and hated by many all because you probably used Dictionary.com (never use dictionary.com btw, it's garbage). I mean, you literally just confused investing with gambling. And I personally agree that loot boxes should not be available to kids (under 18) with absolutely no sense of monetary value Also, never doubt Vegas

由Fridén編輯: 1/4/2018 2:20:08 PMThe literal definition is what matters when it comes to law. Law first defines something, then sets restrictions to it. Loot boxes would not fall into that definition. There is a reason why you don't have to be 21 to by white wine vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or mouthwash even though each have alcohol in them. If loot boxes are gambling, the game of Destiny might as well be classified as such. You pay 60 dollars to play activities for a random virtual reward, only difference is there is a one time payment of 60 dollars. I am not supporting eververse. I said I disliked it in my orginal post. The entire purpose of the system is to make money. That DOES NOT make it gambling. How about you read my post before putting words in my mouth. I don't care how this individual spends his money and it is not mine or Bungies responsibility to deal with his gambling problem. IN ADDITION, if you beat one addiction a lot of times people turn to something else to replace it. That does not mean the thing they are replacing it is the same, whether or not it is similar.
I mean, you literally just confused investing with gambling.
You need to learn to read. I am pointing out SIMILARITES with investing and gambling. I never said it WAS gambling. That is my point. If we stick to the definition you provided it could be classifed as such.

I may have misinterpreted some of the shit you've said, but you've also misinterpreted well over half the shit I've said, which is evidenced by the vast majority of of your seemingly anger filled response. So, if I need to learn how to read, then you definitely need to learn how read, as well be able make a point without contradicting yourself. Like I literally provided you with the literal definition of gambling and then you go on to say the my definition doesn't matter, the literal one does? The word you're looking for is the legal definition of gambling. So how about you don't give someone shit for something you're doing to?

由Fridén編輯: 1/4/2018 10:54:31 PMI may have missed some of your points as well, I apologize. I am not trying to be a hypocrite, so fair enough. You provided a defition, I provided another one. We call all agree that, espeically in the english language, words have more than one meaning. Even using your definition, there is no "bet" per say in loot boxes. You paid x dollars and got a loot box. You are BUYING a random chance at something as opposed to BETTING on it. That is very important. Gambling involves risk. You isn't risking anything with a loot box. You bought it. I am not saying there isn't similarities. Of course there is. I am also NOT saying it isn't in there to spark some form of addictive behavior. All I am saying is it is important to notices the differences between the two. Calling loot boxes gambling but not calling the game of Destiny gambling is contradictory in my opinion. Both cost x dollars and provided you with a random number generator with specific rewards. With both, you can keep putting money into it as well. I mean, there are RNG loot based games with monthly subscriptions, should we make those 18+ too? I hate eververse man. Bungie made a huge mistake with it, but the solution isn't to get the government involved with the mess loot boxes has brought to our games. We need to solve this ourselves and stop buying games that have them.
