Enough people requested refunds based on being locked out of content that they had previously purchased that Bungie started seeing sales for the DLC decline. That’s why. That’s the reason for Faction rally cancelled. That’s why Prestige raid is 300 light and why Trials will be available to all regardless if you own the DLC or not. It’s all about getting them $20s from Little Johnny and having the Xmas noobs buy into the franchise.

Bungie trying to do the right thing here. Next step is to be proactive not reactive. I hope they pull this from the fire because I had so much fun in the Crucible yesterday that I couldn't put the controller down (booping Prometheus Lens users off the map with the tractor cannon).

As a person that didn't get the DLC, I think I can pretty much sum up what's wrong with Bungie's mindset here from the view of one end of the community. They're addressing a problem about 3 years too late to matter. Trying to accommodate non-DLC players was an issue back then, because Destiny was incredibly massive (much larger than Destiny 2 as it is now). Segregating your community back then was a questionable practice, but only because that community was so massive and spread out across the game. That's not the case in Destiny 2. I think it's fair to say that the game has run its course with the casual audience. People aren't picking this game up anymore, at least not that I'm seeing. The guys who played this game in the beginning for say 1-2 hours every day are gone. You're left with your core fanbase. The only thing you have now are the guys that are gonna stick by you, they'll buy your dlcs, they'll put up with what you throw at them. The rest of us left man. There's no need to pander to us. Bungie is trying to pull off a revival but it's just not gonna happen. All they're doing is screwing over the guys that are in for the long run. And if they keep that up, they're bound to lose that audience too.

I am greatly disappointed to hear this. I understand what they are doing to fix this game but I was looking forward to the Faction Rally.

I was actually looking forward to adding some longevity to the game by getting ready to grind for faction armor ornaments. At least they're treading carefully about content locking from now on, someone must have pushed the right buttons.

My take? They were going to remove Faction Rally for non-Expansion players, and have to fix it so that doesn't happen.

It would be funny if Bungie ALSO did this because Bungie didn’t sell enough CoO copies so there are more Destiny 2 Vanilla players than Destiny 2 CoO players. So they need to keep both groups combined for faction rallies and IB to have a large enough population. Again a thought.

They should just go ahead with the event, honestly who cares if non dlc owners are locked out, I sure as hell don’t, you want the new seasonal gear an event gear buy the dlc it’s that simple

Goddamn, I levelled a Titan specifically for this event this week. I wanted the DO armour and ornaments. If some other scrubs don’t have access to the event, who cares? I paid for this “expansion” and you are diluting and removing any reason to actually own it.

I was looking forward to the rally this week too. Oh well, I have plenty of new loot to grind for, so its not as bad as it would be if we were in the dry spell between seasons. I'm thinking that Bungie is treading very carefully with all the current controversy of micro transactions and pay walls. They probably are worried somebody could take them to court if they didn't make some changes very soon.

I can not stress enough how annoyed I am at this. I am struggling to articulate my frustration in an effective manner. You would imagine wallowing in childish angst would not allow my disappointment be taken seriously. Except... that kind of behavior from the lazy casuals is what got us here. At this point what they need to do is take seriously the players who take the game seriously. Treat us like adults please. We don't ask for the condescending hand holding that the peasants who hold you and your craft in contempt do. Tell us when are we getting the worthwhile content. When is the Faction Rally going to happen? When is The Dawning going to happen? When is Iron Banner going to happen? When is the meaningful, challenging, time consuming content going to be presented to us? Give us the time table. We who desire to take you and your game seriously.... are not being treated in the same manner.
