Anyone who has leveled their character to 265+ will understand this post. What is the point of putting a cap on legendaries? This just makes you not want to play the game, there is no point to grind. The only way to increase your light level is getting exotics or powerful gear drops. You can only get these powerful gear drops once a week or day from nightfall and raid (and some other minor stuff). I understand that you can acquire legendaries a lot easier in D2, but whats the point if it won't help you at all. It's the equivalent of getting shards.
To fix this issue I would decrease the chances of getting legendaries, but they will have the chance to be your light level or a little higher. For the venders just make it 1 light level above your current but make it take more coins/parts to receive an engram.
Yeah I understand you want to limit our progress by having these blocks but it just ruins the whole gaming experience if I can't level unless I get one of those two items. I don't see destiny lasting too long if they stay with this legendary level cap system.
Anyone else feel the same way?
*edit
Once you reach 280 light mods make it possible to level from the legendary cap. Also it is possible to recieve legendaries with legendary mods attached from engrams increasing the cap. That's how to get up to 280 besides weekly powerful gear drops.

They aren't capped, just so you are aware. It may only seem that way because you exhausted all of your materials too early. If you turn in or obtain your rewards with a bit of planning, leveling isn't a big deal. I started my Titan on Sunday morning and as of last night, it's 294. I only did public events, the story line, a couple of lost sectors, 1 nightfall, and only 2 of the exotic quests. YouTube and patience will go a long way.

Pro-tip: space your powerful engram out a bit. Turn in the flashpoint, then go do stuff until you have the Blues/legendaries to make everything as high as the old average. This will raise the cap on the rep engrams you get. Then turn in the nightfall or crucible or whatever and repeat.

You need to realize they didn't make the game for you to grind out quickly and dam near dominate everything. By stopping the cap for now this allows you to challenge yourself. If your so concerned with getting bored with the game then by all means but you need to understand how games like these work. Stop level cap for now then gives you reason to play the game more and challenge yourself with enemies higher than you before they release new content at a higher level. But for the most part there is no problem with Destiny 2 at all as a start off as far as campaign overall. For pvp yeah it a lot of team play and barely any 1v1 engagement but if your good then what does it matter. But beside overall as long as they stay with their plan then personally I think their fine.

If they do that it would take away any challenge there is to leveling up, the higher level you get, the harder and longer it takes to increase your level, thats how literally and level based grinding game works, if you want to level up you gotta work for it, if you could just buy engrams that will increase your light level then whats the point in even doing any of the activites that give you loot?

Oh yeah, the 265 softcap is a pain. There is a way to grind power, but it is a very long grind for about 10 or less power with every new character. I've been just starting a new titan and deleting the old, finish exotic quests and restart. Other than that, I have not figured out any other way to grind power. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably be playing another game until the weekly resets.

honestly i won't say it isn't annoying because it is, but it isn't capped at 265 it just becomes a very large grind to advance where you basically rely on the weekly engrams and exotics. and honestly 265 is a soft cap it gets worse after 280 and the immediate jump mods bring. currently my legendaries drop at ~285 and yes is agree it is highly annoying that i'm reliant on like 5 once a week things to increase my light level. on a side note the blues dropped at the end of the nightfall are generally higher light level.

How the hell do you level up in this game when drops and engrams are capped at the level of your lowest piece of gear? I dismantle pretty much everything I get because I'm 273 (only because of the two exotics) but every blue or legendary drops at 266. For the last 3 hours I've been running public events and strikes with a medallion buff but got nothing higher than 266. Bungie really went all out to halt progress in this game.

It doesn't limit your progress, it makes you have to do "end game" activities in order to progress. Want higher gear do your weekly milestones, nightfall, raid, trials, ECT. If you do any of these you get better power drops. It falls on you the player to decide when is the best time to do said activities.
