Dinklage was fine, but the script sucked. Nolan was also fine, but the script still sucked.
I'm trying to keep an open mind about Failsafe, and Nolan in D2, but so far I'm not overjoyed.
In the end, they could drag Wayne June into the sound booth and it wouldn't improve a bad script.

I agree with this, it really was the script. What do you do with a line like, "that wizard came from the moon." I think Nolan's thing was the script was so bad and he had to differentiate himself from Dinklage it was messed up they made me redo his lines. All they had to do was say that his voice modulators got damaged in a fight or something.

Like you'd think with a story about light and darkness and people being killed and our city getting wiped out it'd be a little darker and more serious. Comic relief has it's place, but it's like every other GD line with Ghost or Cayde and now Failsafe. Like seriously stop trying to be funny. Civilization is on the brink of -blam!-ing extinction and we're facing ancient mysterious enemies several orders of magnitude more powerful than ourselves. Rant over.

I'm with you on that. The big problem is that they had no story real direction until Fillion really got rolling with Cayde. They couldn't write serious scripts worth a damn either, looking back at vanilla D1. So it looks like his ad-libs probably saved the franchise from an early death. Which is great, but the down side is that now they're afraid to be unfunny for longer than five minutes at a time.

Yeah. I guess I should be thankful that it's still here at least. Just bugs me. A lot of the flavor texts and most of the Grimoire invoke a serious tone that shows the desperation, hopelessness, and mystery of the post Golden Age world, but in game it's a bunch of goofy bullshit.
