Not going to happen. The Bladedancer and the Arcstrider are completely different power-fantasies, and Bungie is intentionally living Bladedancer behind. Bladedancer was basically the Rogue/Assassin fantasy. Striking from the shadows and carving up his victims with speed and stealth. Problem is that those very assassin like traits, made them frustrating to fight in PvP...and weren't particularly helpful in PVE. (Invisibility. Teleports. Backstabbing) Every crucible player has their stories about Invisible Bladedancers crouching in corners with shotguns and snipers. The Arcstrider is the Warrior-monk/martial-arts master/ Darth Maul fantasy. A fighting style that is based on speed and precision. But one that fights openly and honorably....rather than from the shadows. While there are definitely dual sword fighting styles in kung fu, you're really not going to see a huge difference (visually) between a character fighting with dual swords....and one fighting with a bo staff.

As for Darth Maul: He was also pure garbage, that got sliced in twain by a disarmed Padawan learner, only to come back from his embarrassing and apparent death as fan service, just to become the whipping boy of the new Star Wars canon. All that flipping around with Arcstrider is theatrical garbage, ridled with unnecessary poses that just make for easy target practice. I've been a Hunter (mostly Blade Dancer main, despite it being considered the single weakest subclass in the entire game) since the first day, that was initially excited about the Arcstrider, and ready to give it a chance... but my Beta experience was so lame, I switched to maining a Gunslinger, which I will undoubtedly be forced to play IF I even buy/ play this (currently) dumpster fire of a game at all. Bungie, if you're reading this: Making a lowest common denominator solution to a game is not going to placate whiners who don't want to play long enough to get good at it... they're still going to complain about losing to skill and original playstyles, instead of actually getting better. Meanwhile, predictable skilltress, 4v4, and 'team shooting' as a requisite just means more predictable (aka boring) engagements, further balance gaps, and fireteams as an absolute essential in PvP (which also kills any interest I have, as I usually prefer playing solo, and I say this as someone that was ranked 28th in PvP)... which stands to lose a lot of your dedicated fanbase, including myself. In fact, my D2 experience has been very much like the Star Wars prequels, in every sense of excitement turned to absolute disappointment: retconning lore, a gimped out Darth Maul, ridiculous animations that make no sense (see also: pod racing, arc staff, and Arcstrider losing the iconic knife, and punching with their trigger-hand now? Seriously.. aside from the obvious IRL potential of breaking your hand/fingers, would YOU holster a weapon, or carry it with your off hand just to punch an enemy combatant? It hurts my brain how ridiculous that is). I really hope you fix D2, but I've already lost a tremendous amount of faith, and gone from 'I am definitely buying this!' to 'I may never play this again'. I am not holding my breath.

'If you find yourself in a fair fight, you _____ up bad'. - USMC proverb. There is no such thing as honor in a fight. That's a fantasy made for TV and storytelling. If you think any successful military in history has had 'fair' and 'honorable' as a priority for enemy combatants actively engaging them, you're delusional. Most of military history is highlighted specifically by original tactics and technology, MEANT to create an 'unfair' advantage. That's the entire reason 'camouflage' even exists. It's not like you can't see a stealth Hunter anyway, if you're playing cautiously, and looking at something other than your radar. "Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.'

  • Then perhaps keep that motif, but put actual blades on either side to complete the Darth Maul comparison? That would be congruent with Bladedancer AND keep the warrior-monk style.

  • I think the staff **is** tipped with blades. At least it seems to be in close-up shots that I've seen.

  • It has tiny blades, not full on Storm Shadow or Darth Maul ones.
